The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Lieutenant General Le Hong Nam - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police; and leaders of the City Party Committee's advisory committees, judicial agencies and authorities of districts, towns and Thu Duc City.
Ho Chi Minh City currently has 22 district-level administrative units, including Thu Duc City, 16 districts and 5 counties. From March 1, the police sector will no longer organize at the district level, which means that Thu Duc City Police and district police will no longer operate according to the old model.
Lieutenant General Le Hong Nam - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police affirmed that not organizing district-level police does not reduce functions, tasks or staffing, but is instead streamlining the apparatus, eliminating intermediate levels.
The tasks of the district-level police will previously be transferred to the department-level units and the commune-level police.
With the spirit of "fastness and determination to win", Ho Chi Minh City Police have completed the statistics on the status of work, facilities, equipment, weapons... for immediate handover and reception, ensuring smooth operation of the force according to the new model.
Starting from March 1, Ho Chi Minh City Police officially took on five additional state management areas including: Network information security; Aviation security; Addiction management and post-drug addiction management; Testing and granting driving licenses; Judicial records.
According to the new model, Ho Chi Minh City Police will reduce from 55 units to 33, of which 246 team-level units will be cut. This streamlining aims to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations, while ensuring that the conversion process does not disrupt the work of managing the area, handling records and ensuring security and order.
The Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police Department requested all forces, especially the command team, to uphold the spirit of responsibility, proactively innovate, be creative, overcome difficulties, and ensure the smooth operation of the new apparatus.
At the same time, the police force needs to quickly detect and promptly resolve problems arising in the conversion process.
In the coming time, Ho Chi Minh City Police will continue to urgently review and arrange appropriate personnel to ensure the completion of the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.
