On April 23, according to information from the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department (PKO), Engineering Team No. 4 has just coordinated with local authorities to organize the handover ceremony of the Abyei - Agok connecting road.
With a length of 37km, this is a route of special strategic significance to the UNISFA Mission, local authorities and people in connecting traffic between the North (from Sudan) to the South (South Sudan), contributing to promoting humanitarian activities and improving the lives of local people.

The project was completed in 85 days, exceeding the schedule by 35 days compared to the set plan, thereby affirming the construction organization capacity, sense of responsibility and effective coordination between the Vietnamese Engineering Corps and the United Nations Mission and local authorities.
At the handover ceremony, Major General Ganesh Kumar Shrestha, Commander of the UNISFA Mission, affirmed that since the UNISFA Mission was established in 2011, this is the first project with the greatest meaning and stature that the UNISFA Mission has done for the people.
He emphasized and praised the Vietnam Engineering Team No. 4 for completing the project ahead of schedule in complex terrain and weather conditions. The completion of this road is an unprecedented achievement, opening up opportunities for infrastructure connection and improving security in the region.

Each completed meter of road is proof of the spirit of responsibility and dedication of the Vietnamese Engineering Corps, turning difficulties and challenges into practical values for the local community" - Ms. Uchenna Odenigbo, Head of Mission Support (CMS) of UNISFA, affirmed.
In an emotional atmosphere, Mr. Arop Deng Kuol - Deputy Head of Abyei Administrative Region, expressed that he was present not only to attend the road inauguration ceremony, but also on behalf of the people of Abyei to send sincere thanks for the great contributions of Vietnam Engineering Team No. 4.
We have accompanied you, witnessed the efforts, hardships and dedication, discipline throughout the construction process. Thanks to those contributions, a once dilapidated road has now become one of the most modern roads in the region, contributing to improving security, traffic and life for local people," said Mr. Arop Deng Kuol.

Lieutenant Colonel Trinh Van Cuong, Team Leader of Engineering Team No. 4, cum Commander of the Vietnamese Forces at the UNISFA Mission in Abyei region, shared: "With the assigned mission, the Vietnamese Engineering Team always strives its best to bring the best values to the local community. Helping people is the command from the heart of each of us soldiers.
At the ceremony, Engineering Team No. 4 was honored to receive a letter of commendation from the Head of Abyei Administrative Zone for its outstanding contributions in implementing infrastructure projects in the area. The letter stated clearly that Vietnam Engineering Team No. 4 has effectively coordinated with local authorities and UNISFA Mission, performing tasks with professionalism, discipline, and high efficiency.
On this occasion, Engineering Team No. 4 of Vietnam also deployed practical humanitarian support activities including 10 hospital beds, essential necessities and school supplies for local people, contributing to improving living standards and strengthening solidarity with the local community.
