On November 3, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Pham Duc An chaired a meeting and worked with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Vietnam Helga Margarete Barth during a visit and greeting with the city's leaders.
Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Pham Duc An expressed his pleasure at welcoming Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Vietnam Helga Margarete Barth to Da Nang and said that diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany have developed well for more than half a century.
Da Nang has now established and maintained cooperative relations with a number of German localities, aiming to sign an official cooperation agreement in 2026.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Pham Duc An also introduced an overview of the development situation of Da Nang after the merger with Quang Nam province. Da Nang City has attracted more than 11 billion USD in foreign investment. Of which, about 28 enterprises with a total capital of more than 700 million USD are invested from Germany.
The leaders of Da Nang City hope that in the coming time, the two sides will strengthen cooperation in the fields of services, tourism, high-tech industry and innovation, especially when Da Nang is oriented by the Government to develop into a financial, free trade and logistics center of the Central region.
At the meeting, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Vietnam Helga Margarete Barth thanked the city leaders for their warm welcome.
At the same time, he highly appreciated Da Nang's development potential, especially in attracting the German business community. Ms. Helga Margarete Barth said that many German enterprises are currently interested in the Central market and consider Da Nang a new investment destination.
Ambassador Helga Margarete Barth also proposed the establishment of a consulate or honorary consulate of Germany in Da Nang to support German businesses and citizens operating in the area.
