On the morning of January 19, the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (Congress XIV) held a preparatory session at the National Convention Center, Hanoi Capital.
Before the opening ceremony of the preparatory session, delegates attending the Congress entered the Mausoleum to pay respects to President Ho Chi Minh.
After that, Comrade Politburo Members, Secretariat and Heads of Delegations of Party Committees directly under the Central Government attending the Congress laid wreaths and offered incense at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs.
The entire Congress spent a minute of silence to commemorate the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the members of the 13th Central Committee of the Party who passed away during the 13th Congress term.
Comrade Tran Thanh Man - Member of the Politburo, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on behalf of key leaders of the Party and State, chaired the preparatory meeting.
The Congress voted in favor and highly agreed to approve the program of preparatory meetings, the Working Regulations of the Congress, the Working Program of the Congress and the Election Regulations at the 14th National Party Congress.
The Congress elected the Presidium consisting of 16 Politburo members. The Congress elected the Secretariat consisting of 5 members and the Appraisal Board for the status of delegates attending the Congress consisting of 13 members.
The Congress voted in favor and highly agreed to approve the Report on tham tra the Party's Party Congress XIV deputy status submitted by the Deputy Status Appraisal Board. Accordingly, all 1,586 deputies summoned to attend the Congress are fully qualified as Party Congress deputies.
In the afternoon, delegates studied documents at the delegation's residence.
