On the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People's Public Security (CAND) and the 20th Anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection, on August 16, in Hanoi, General Secretary To Lam met with retired senior police officers.
Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that under the glorious flag of the Party, the People's Public Security Forces have made glorious feats, contributing to beautifying the tradition of "Forgetting oneself for the country, serving the people", "only knowing how to live and die for the Party, only knowing that there is a Party, we still have ourselves".
Today, our country is entering a new stage of development, with the aspiration to strive by the middle of the 21st century to become a developed country with high income. The context of the world, the region and the country poses new requirements and challenges for the cause of defending the Fatherland.
In that context, the People's Public Security force must continue to affirm its role as a "steel shield" and "white sword" to protect the Party, protect the regime, protect the people; must always be proactive, sensitive, creative, determined to defeat all plots and tricks of the enemy, maintain national security, social order and safety, create a peaceful and stable environment for national development.
General Secretary To Lam hopes that the generals and senior officers of the People's Public Security Forces will continue to promote the quality of "CAND for the people"; continue to be a reliable support, a spiritual support for the younger generation; help the younger generation deeply realize: "Being a revolutionary police officer, the core thing is to be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the People, sacrificing for the people, fighting for the people".
General Secretary To Lam presented 8 lessons learned from the experience of 80 years of building, fighting and growing of the People's Public Security force; affirmed that the Party, State and People always have full trust in the People's Public Security force. That belief is not natural, but is built from the blood, sweat, tears and intelligence of many generations of police officers and soldiers...
At the meeting, General Luong Tam Quang - Politburo member, Minister of Public Security - emphasized that the deep affection and recognition of General Secretary To Lam is a great source of encouragement and motivation for the entire People's Public Security force in general, generations of generals and senior officers of the People's Public Security in particular to continue to strive to promote the qualities of the People's Public Security for the people's service, overcome difficulties and hardships, and excellently complete all tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.
Minister Luong Tam Quang affirmed that the entire People's Public Security force appreciates the opportunity and will direct the entire People's Public Security force to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the instructions of the General Secretary, especially the 8 valuable lessons drawn not only from the 80 years of building, fighting and growing of the Vietnam People's Public Security, but also crystallize the intelligence, enthusiasm, leadership and direction process with many miracles and turning points in all aspects of the Public Security work of the General Secretary and General when taking on the responsibility of the Minister of Public Security.
On this occasion, in recognition of the outstanding achievements and contributions of the late Senior Lieutenant General Le Minh Huong - former Minister of Public Security, the President posthumously presented the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to the late Minister of Public Security Le Minh Huong.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam presented the Certificate of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to the family representative of the late Minister of Public Security Le Minh Huong.
At the meeting, the Central Party Committee of the Public Security and the Ministry of Public Security respectfully presented General Secretary To Lam and delegates with the book "When the people need it, when the people are in difficulty, there is a police".
