Upon hearing the news of the passing of Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane, Member of the Politburo, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on August 8, 2026, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front sent condolences to the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, and the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction.

Upon hearing the news of the passing of Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane, Member of the Politburo, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front would like to send to the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Central Committee of the Lao Fatherland Front for National Construction and the family of Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane our deepest condolences.
Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane is an outstanding leader of the Party, State and people of Laos, a staunch communist who dedicated his whole life to the revolutionary cause of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, to the cause of protecting, building and developing a peaceful, independent, unified and prosperous Laos.
In his position as Chairman of the National Assembly and with many important responsibilities of the Lao Party and State, he made many important contributions to the completion of the rule of law state, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the Lao National Assembly's activities, promoting socio-economic development, strengthening the great national unity bloc and enhancing Laos' position in the international arena.
Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane is also a comrade, a very close friend of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, always giving deep feelings and special attention to preserving, nurturing and developing the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic linkage between Vietnam and Laos.
The passing of Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane is a great loss for the Party, State and fraternal Lao People, and at the same time, the Party, State and people of Vietnam also lost a great friend, a loyal and attached comrade.
We believe that the Party, State, and people of brotherly Laos and the family of Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane will soon overcome this great pain and loss, and continue the cause of building an increasingly developed and prosperous Laos".
