Nurturing spiritual strength
The history of the Vietnamese revolution shows that political and ideological work always plays a particularly important role in building forces, consolidating trust and orienting the actions of the entire nation.
More than 100 years ago (1925), in Guangzhou (China), leader Nguyen Ai Quoc opened political training classes, organized at houses No. 13 and 13/1 of Van Minh street, now No. 248 and 250 of Van Minh street. Most of the students were patriotic Vietnamese youth, from students, intellectuals, and some were Confucian high school graduates.
The first cadre training classes, opening up knowledge for trainees to participate in training, created a premise for the establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Since preparing for the establishment of the Party, in the work Revolutionary Path (1927), President Ho Chi Minh affirmed: "The Party must be strong for the revolution to succeed, just as the helmsman is strong, the boat will run".
In the spring of 1930, the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam was a momentous historical event, marking a glorious milestone in the nation's development process. In which, the issue of building a politically and ideologically strong Party was identified as one of the core issues, with fundamental and decisive significance for the success of the revolutionary cause.
One of the glorious milestones is the victory of the August Revolution in 1945. This was not only a successful general uprising to seize power nationwide, but also the crystallization of a long process of political, ideological and organizational preparation. The victory of the August Revolution came not only from the accurate seizing of opportunities, but also from the great spiritual strength of the entire nation - nurtured through propaganda, mobilization and revolutionary ideal education.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc - Director of the Propaganda and Training Department (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army) - analyzed at the Scientific Conference "The spiritual political strength of the August Revolution in 1945 - Meaning for the cause of building and protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland in the new era": The victory of the August Revolution is not just a simple political event, but the crystallization of a long and arduous struggle process, the pinnacle of a national liberation revolution along the proletarian revolutionary path. That is the victory of the intelligence, bravery and talented leadership art of our Party, led by President Ho Chi Minh. The Party correctly assessed the world and domestic situation, seized the once-in-a-thousand-year "golden opportunity" to launch the entire people's General Uprising to seize power. But deeper, the root of that extraordinary victory is the invincible spiritual political strength of the entire nation.
Persistently pursue ideals, unify actions
After the victory of the August Revolution, under the leadership of the Party, the Vietnamese revolution continued to achieve glorious victories. Those were the victories of two resistance wars against foreign invaders, defeating the powerful empires of the 20th century, against French colonialism (1954) and US imperialist aggression (1975), winning independence and complete reunification of the country.
In the struggle against foreign invaders, the balance of power often leaned towards the opponent. Combat conditions and revolutionary activities were extremely difficult, many cadres and soldiers were arrested, tortured, and even sacrificed. However, thanks to political and ideological work, thanks to the correct line based on Marxism-Leninism and the goal of national independence associated with socialism, cadres, party members and people still maintained their belief and steadfastly followed the revolutionary path.
In his memoir "Indochina dying", General Henri Navarre, Commander-in-Chief of the French expeditionary army in Indochina after France's defeat at Dien Bien Phu, wrote: "The Viet Minh had a terrible will, a strong belief in accurate goals, a great dynamism, and absolute unity of action in directing the war as well as directing the campaign.
Entering a new stage of development, the country faces many great opportunities but also faces many challenges. In that context, political and ideological work continues to play a particularly important role. Many analyses point out that the strength and prestige of the Party first of all originates from political and ideological strength - from the steadfastness in ideals, political bravery and unity in awareness and action of the entire Party.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tuc - Member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front - since the Party was born, leading the Vietnamese revolution, political and ideological work has played a particularly important role. It is from this work that cadres and party members have unified and deeply understood the goals, ideals and revolutionary guidelines of the Party. From that foundation, propaganda and mobilization of the masses are carried out, creating the strength of the revolutionary movement.
In the context of rapidly changing the world and region, hostile forces strengthen sabotage on the ideological front, and the consolidation of the Party's ideological foundation becomes increasingly urgent. Political and ideological work is therefore not only a regular task but also a long-term strategic requirement. Continuing to promote political and ideological strength will contribute to consolidating people's trust, strengthening the great national unity bloc and creating an endogenetic source of strength for the country to develop rapidly and sustainably in the new period.
