On April 23, at the National Assembly House, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.
At the meeting, appreciating the good development achievements in the relations between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992 to date, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that the two countries have many potentials and advantages to complement each other in key areas in the coming period; jointly promote deeper cooperation in semiconductor technology and strategic supply chains, artificial intelligence (AI), renewable energy and clean energy, digital transformation, biotechnology and smart infrastructure.
The National Assembly Chairwoman affirmed that Vietnam is always ready to create a transparent and favorable legal environment for foreign investors, including Korean businesses, to feel secure in investing and long-term stability in Vietnam, and comply with Vietnamese laws.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that cultural and sports cooperation is increasingly becoming an important bridge connecting the two nations, and welcomed the two sides' promotion of cooperation in the field of e-sports and sports contributing to building community health and solidarity.
President Lee Jae Myung expressed high agreement with the proposals of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, thanked and wished the Vietnamese National Assembly to continue to support and create conditions for Korean businesses to feel secure in investing stably and long-term in Vietnam; affirmed that Korea will pursue comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam from infrastructure, transportation, energy to future industrial sectors including science and technology, intellectual property, artificial intelligence (AI), and cultural industry.
Regarding parliamentary cooperation, the two sides highly appreciated the close relationship between the National Assemblies of the two countries, making positive contributions to consolidating the Vietnam - Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; agreed to continue to deepen the cooperative relationship between the National Assemblies of the two countries by maintaining high-level delegation exchanges and specialized committees, strengthening the activities of the National Assembly Friendship Group of the two countries; promoting the supervisory role, promoting commitments and cooperation agreements between the two countries, making important contributions to consolidating the political foundation, promoting deep and sustainable economic cooperation, and enriching cultural and sports exchanges and effectively exploiting cooperation potential in the fields of economic - investment - technology cooperation, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries.
President Lee Jae Myung highly appreciated the important role and contribution of the Vietnamese community in Korea; agreed with the proposal of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to continue to pay attention to and protect the legitimate rights of the Vietnamese community in Korea; said that he would consider measures to simplify visa procedures for Vietnamese citizens; and at the same time, requested the Vietnamese National Assembly to continue to support and create all favorable conditions for the Korean community in Vietnam as well as Korean businesses investing and operating in Vietnam.
