From 6am to 7:30am on August 16, more than 1 million people in 34 provinces and cities across the country wore red shirts with yellow stars, together heading to the historic Ba Dinh Square to watch the national flag-raising ceremony and sing the National Anthem, then together performing walking activities for a united, strong and sustainable Vietnam.
This is an activity under the national walking program "Marching forward with Vietnam" jointly organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper and the Ministry of Public Security to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), National Day September 2 (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and Traditional Day of the People's Public Security (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025).
Attending the launching ceremony of the program at Ly Thai To Flower Garden (Hanoi) on the morning of August 16 were members of the Party Central Committee, co-head of the Steering Committee: Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, Deputy Minister of Public Security.
Also attending were Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh; Major General Pham Kim Dinh - Director of the Department of Political Affairs, Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee; representatives of leaders of units under the Ministry of Public Security, Hanoi City Police; representatives of ministries, departments, branches, central agencies...

At the connecting points of 33 centrally-run provinces and cities, 3,121/3,321 communes, wards and special zones, there were the participation of leaders of local Party committees and authorities; leaders of the Public Security of provinces, cities, communes, wards and special zones; along with a large number of cadres, soldiers, people and people nationwide.
With the message of "2 billion steps forward to the new era", the program "Marching with Vietnam" is expected to mobilize the collective strength of millions of people across the country to participate in walking, marking 1 billion steps forward for health, solidarity and aspiration to rise of a nation that is changing strongly in the new era.
From early this morning, thousands of officers, soldiers of the armed forces and people of the capital have been present at Ly Thai To Flower Garden - Hoan Kiem Walking Street to participate in meaningful walking activities on an unprecedented scale.
At exactly 6:00 a.m., a few minutes before the official launching ceremony took place, the program was directly connected with the Flag Raising Ceremony at the historic Ba Dinh Square.
In the sacred, touching and proud atmosphere, hundreds of thousands of people at the national bridge points watched the solemn footsteps of the Honored Veterans Team performing the flag-raising ceremony, simultaneously singing the National Anthem in harmony to beat the heart towards the Fatherland.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh said: This is not only a sporting event in response to the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" and the movement "Health to build and protect the Fatherland", but also a journey of millions of hearts in harmony - a gathering place for all generations, all classes of people from urban to rural areas, mountainous areas, remote areas...
