In his opening speech, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Council Dong Van Thanh said that this session took place in a special context when the city had just gone through a month of operating two-level local governments after the merger. The city government apparatus and 103 communes and wards have soon stabilized, started to immediately perform functions and tasks and initially achieved positive results.
On the basis, the Session will review, discuss and decide on important contents.
That is to issue Working Regulations of the People's Council, the Standing Committee of the People's Council, the Committees of the People's Council, the People's Council Delegation and the City People's Council Delegation; decide on tasks and solutions for socio-economic development, national defense and security in the last 6 months of 2025; adjust the medium-term public investment capital plan for the period 2021-2025 and 2025; decide on the estimate and allocation of the state budget in 2025; continue to apply and abolish a number of legal documents issued by the People's Councils of 3 localities before the merger; Supervisory Program of the City People's Council in 2025 and 2026.
According to the Chairman of the People's Council of Can Tho City, the above contents all have an impact on the operation of the government apparatus, the development of the city and especially the successful completion of the economic growth target assigned by the Government.
The Resolution of the City People's Council, when issued, is suitable for practice and has high feasibility, therefore, Mr. Thanh suggested that the delegates continue to promote a sense of responsibility, focus on research, discuss thoroughly, and contribute many quality opinions to contribute to the success of the Session.
