On March 17, at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the Central Theoretical Council held the first session of the 2026-2031 term.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang - Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Minh Huan - Member of the Politburo, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Standing Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council chaired the meeting.
According to VNA, speaking at the Meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang affirmed that the country is entering a new era of development, requiring the Party's theoretical work to "go ahead, come one step ahead" to provide scientific arguments to guide development.
The Council needs to continue to elevate its core and core role to truly be worthy of being a strategic intellectual center of the Party. The key task in the coming time is to focus on clarifying major theoretical issues, answering urgent practical issues raised, and promoting practical summaries.
Contributing opinions on innovating the operating methods of the Council in the new situation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Minh Huan highlighted the challenges, analyzed the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) that is fundamentally changing the way political science is done; theoretical knowledge today is not only purely created by humans but also deeply affected by algorithms, causing the boundary between theoretical science and science and technology to be strongly overlapping.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council especially noted that political theory research in the new era must originate from political orientation, go into specificity, practice and be close to action.
Social science and theory cannot stand aside and wait for a delay to summarize as before, but must accompany right in the development process of science and technology. Theory must be integrated right in the process of technology design and algorithms to establish ethical foundations, promptly adjust human behavior and minimize negative impacts. To fulfill this responsibility, it is necessary to establish a close, proactive and pioneering coordination mechanism between the Council and specialized scientific research institutes.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Minh Huan said that if in the past political theory mainly expressed in viewpoints, guidelines, policies, and orientations, now it is also associated with specific action programs, requiring practicality and high implementation capacity. Therefore, theoretical research should not only stop at the perspective but also be associated with specific output products.
At the Session, Council members focused on discussing and giving opinions on the draft Working Regulations of the Council for the term 2026 - 2031; the Work Program for 2026 and the Work Plan for the entire term.
The Council also went deep into contributing opinions to two historical projects: the draft Outline of the Report summarizing 100 years of the Party leading the Vietnamese Revolution (1930-2030), orienting the leadership of national development in the next 100 years (2030-2130) and the draft Outline of the Report summarizing 40 years of implementing the Platform for building the country in the transitional period to socialism.
