On the morning of August 21, in Hanoi, the Committee on Culture and Society chaired and coordinated with the Committee on Science, Technology and Environment, the Committee for Petition and Monitoring, and organized a session to explain the implementation of policies and laws on the prevention of fake drugs and fake foods.
In her opening speech, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh pointed out that the harmful effects of fake drugs and fake foods on people's health and the economy are very large, to the point of being considered a danger. The most dangerous of which is causing direct and long-term harm to the health and even the lives of users.
According to Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh, the Party and State always identify food safety, prevention and control of fake drugs and counterfeit foods as an important task associated with the goal of protecting people's health and ensuring national health security.
Since the beginning of the year, the Government has made efforts to focus on implementing the peak period of fighting with the direction of the Prime Minister of declaring a non-compromising campaign against the situation of fake drugs and fake foods to protect the health, life, legitimate rights and interests of people and businesses; protect security and health safety for people.
In the spirit of sharing responsibility, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly hopes that both the explanatory agency and the explanatory requesting side will closely assess the reality and objectively assess the current situation of the production, trading and circulation of fake drugs and fake food.
In addition, evaluate the implementation of policies and laws on the prevention and control of fake drugs and fake foods in conjunction with the functions, tasks and responsibilities of ministries, branches and localities; clarify difficulties, limitations and causes.
Thereby, proposing and recommending amendments and improvements to policies and laws, having timely solutions to remove obstacles and improve the effectiveness of drug and food quality management; preventing and stopping the production, trading, circulation and advertising of fake drugs and fake foods.
The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly suggested that National Assembly deputies focus on issues that voters and people are particularly concerned about.
In which, it noted the contents of developing, promulgating, and implementing policies and laws on pharmaceuticals and food safety; licensing activities for circulation, inspection, examination, detection, and handling of violations related to the production, trading, and circulation of fake drugs and fake food.
Untrue advertising behavior for drug and food products; management, use and status of facilities, equipment, organization, and personnel in the operations of testing centers nationwide.
The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly suggested that the Minister of Health, the Minister of Industry and Trade and representatives of relevant ministries and branches answer and explain frankly, going straight to the center of the issue.
It is necessary to analyze and correctly assess the shortcomings and limitations, clarify the causes; specifically identify responsibilities; thereby providing practical and feasible solutions to effectively overcome them at the right address, contributing to improving the quality and effectiveness of the prevention and control of fake drugs and fake foods in the coming time.
After the Explanatory Session, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly requested the Committee on Culture and Society to complete the Conclusion in the direction of properly assessing the actual situation. Propose and recommend practical contents, tasks, and effective solutions associated with specific and clear responsibilities and implementation progress.
