The predecessor of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam was the Tan Trao National Congress (Tuyen Quang). Based on the decisions of the National Congress, our people successfully carried out the August Revolution and then on January 6, 1946, conducted general elections nationwide to elect the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, marking a glorious milestone in our country's history.
The victory from the first General Election has opened up prospects for a new era of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam with a National Assembly, a unified Government and a system of government fully legally representing the people in domestic and foreign affairs.

Over 80 years of construction and development, the National Assembly of Vietnam has always accompanied the nation, affirming its particularly important role in historical turning points.
In any circumstances, the National Assembly always fulfills its noble mission, a place that converges wisdom, solidarity, and democracy with accurate and timely decisions and policies in legislative, supreme supervision, and decision-making aspects of the country.
Those decisions and policies contributed efforts together with the entire Party, people, and army to create great achievements of historical significance for our country to have the foundation, potential, position and international prestige it has today.
