On the morning of February 6, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a national training conference for press to promote the election of National Assembly deputies (NA deputies) of the 16th term and the election of People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
At the training session, Mr. Nguyen Hai Long - Director of the Delegate Affairs Department (National Assembly Delegate Affairs Committee) informed about the process of election of National Assembly deputies and People's Councils at all levels, and issues to pay attention to in information and propaganda work for the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

Based on the first adjustment Resolution on the structure, composition, and number of people of agencies, organizations, and units at the Central level who are introduced to run for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term of the National Assembly Standing Committee, on December 19, 2025, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front consulted and agreed on the structure, composition, and number of people introduced to run for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term of the Fatherland Front bloc and member organizations of the Front at the Central level.
The total number of people assigned by the first consultation conference to be nominated for election in 34 provinces and cities is 975 people, reaching an average rate of 1.95 times compared to the total number of delegates expected to be elected.
The number of people introduced to run for NA deputies belonging to the Fatherland Front bloc and member organizations of the Front at the Central level is 25 people, including 3 people belonging to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 3 people who are typical individuals and 19 people belonging to member organizations of the Front at the Central level.
Regarding the expected number of self-nominated people, 2 provinces and cities have predicted the specific number of self-nominated National Assembly deputies of the 16th term, namely Ho Chi Minh City and Ninh Binh. The remaining 32 provinces and cities do not predict the number of self-nominated people.
In the afternoon of February 2nd, in Hanoi, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front organized the 2nd consultation conference to agree on the preliminary list of people belonging to agencies, organizations, and units at the Central level who were introduced to run for National Assembly Deputies of the 16th term.
The introduction of candidates for the 16th National Assembly is taking place in a short period from December 17, 2025 to January 25, 2026, with a spirit of urgency, seriousness, and democracy; agencies, organizations, and units at the Central level have organized the correct and sufficient steps to introduce candidates for the 16th National Assembly according to regulations.
217/217 people introduced to run for National Assembly Deputy of the 16th term were all recommended by 100% of voters at their workplace.
Through summarizing the minutes of the voters' meeting at the workplace and the minutes of the expanded leadership meeting to introduce candidates for the 16th National Assembly, there have been no opinions or cases raising issues or cases related to the person being recommended for candidacy that need to be verified.
The Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will complete the minutes, fully summarize the results of the consultation, and forward them to the National Election Council and the National Assembly Standing Committee according to regulations; and at the same time urge the Standing Committees of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of provinces and cities to organize conferences to collect voters' opinions at their places of residence on time and prepare tasks to serve the 3rd consultation conference.
According to the plan, the election date for the 16th National Assembly is expected to be March 15, and the election results will be announced earliest on March 22. The first session of the 16th National Assembly is expected to open on April 6.
According to Resolution 1891/NQ-UBTVQH15, the number of delegates in central agencies is allocated to agencies, organizations, and units as follows:
- Party agencies: 10 delegates (2.0%).
- Presidential Office: 3 delegates (0.6%).
- Agencies of the National Assembly (full-time NA deputies at the Central level): 145 deputies (29%).
- Government, government-attached agencies: 15 delegates (3.0%).
- Ministry of National Defense (including Ministers, Ministry agencies, military regions, and branches): 13 delegates (2.6%);
- Ministry of Public Security (including the Minister): 3 delegates (0.6%).
- Supreme People's Court: 1 delegate (0.2%).
- Supreme People's Procuracy: 1 delegate (0.2%).
- State Audit of Vietnam: 1 delegate (0.2%).
- Vietnam Fatherland Front: 25 delegates (5%).
