On July 9, in Hanoi, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man - Chairman of the National Election Council - chaired the first meeting of the Council.
Concluding the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man requested that the assignment of members should continue to be reviewed and improved, ensuring "clear people, clear work, clear responsibilities", associated with the responsibility of relevant local agencies and organizations.
"After the meeting, the Standing Committee of the Council will have an official document sent to departments, ministries and branches for personnel to participate in the Subcommittees" - the National Assembly Chairman said.
According to the National Assembly Chairman, it is necessary to carefully review documents to ensure scientific and flexible information, updated conditions and context such as reorganizing the apparatus at the central level, ending the operation of district level, merging provincial and commune-level administrative units.
The National Assembly Chairman also emphasized the stage of propaganda and mobilization of the people from now until March 15, 2026 when the election takes place; ensuring the quality of upcoming delegates must be higher than the previous term.
In the coming time, all activities of the Council must ensure the principles of democracy, discipline, publicity, transparency and compliance with the law in election work.
Prepare adequate human resources, material resources, funding and coordination mechanisms between relevant agencies. The election work took place nationwide, the workload was very large, the time was short, so it had to be carefully prepared in all aspects.
The National Assembly Chairman stated that it is necessary to establish a mechanism for smooth and effective coordination between the Council and the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and relevant ministries, departments and branches.
Enhancing the supervisory role of the people, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the responsibility of socio-political organizations and unions for the election work in a practical and effective manner. Strengthen information and propaganda work before, during and after the election, both domestically and internationally; especially raising people's awareness of their rights and obligations as citizens in the election" - the National Assembly Chairman emphasized.
Along with that, authorities need to proactively fight against and refute bad, toxic and distorted information about the election, protect a clean and clean information environment, especially information on social networks.
The National Assembly Chairman also noted that personnel work must be in accordance with procedures, strict, objective, and meet standards, ensuring a reasonable structure and representation ratio. When personnel work is conducted closely and objectively, it will contribute to deciding the quality of the election.
In addition, it is necessary to increase the application of information technology in all stages of election work, paying attention to digital transformation, applying artificial intelligence (AI) to ensure smoothness from the Central to 34 provinces, cities and 3,321 communes, wards and special zones across the country.
