Next, the People's Council of Nghe An province passed resolutions confirming the election results of the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2021 - 2026 term.
With the above results, the current leaders of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term include Chairman Le Hong Vinh and 5 Vice Chairmen: Bui Thanh An, Bui Dinh Long, Nguyen Van De, Hoang Phu Hien and Phung Thanh Vinh.
Nghe An is a province with an area of nearly 16,500 km2, a population of about 3.7 million people, a pedestrian border of more than 468 km and an 82 km coastline. With diverse terrain, especially 83% of the area is mountainous, the province faces many challenges in terms of harsh weather, floods, droughts and security and defense issues.
According to the provisions of Decree No. 08/2016/ND-CP, Nghe An province is only allowed to have a maximum of 4 Vice Chairmen of the People's Committee. However, based on the practical situation, Resolution 137/2024/QH15 of the National Assembly (June 26, 2024) has allowed Nghe An to add no more than 5 Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee.
This addition aims to strengthen leadership, especially in charge of mountainous areas, supporting the orientation of the province's socio-economic development according to Resolution 39-NQ/TW dated July 18, 2023.
