On the afternoon of October 2, at the 20th Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Conference within the framework of the 20th Provincial Party Congress, Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung was elected to hold the position of Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term, with 100% of the votes.
Mr. Hoang Nghia Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Mr. Le Hong Vinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Ms. Vo Thi Minh Sinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, re-elected as Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

The 20th Nghe An Provincial Party Committee also elected the Standing Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, term XX, with 17 members, and elected the Inspection Committee and the Chairman of the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung was born on March 21, 1974, from Tinh Hai commune, Tinh Gia, Thanh Hoa. He has a Master's degree in Economics and a Senior degree in Political Theory.
Before holding the position of Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, he held many important positions at the Ministry of Planning and Investment such as Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel, Director of the Department of Local and Territorial Economy, Director of the Department of Infrastructure and Urban Areas; then held the position of Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment (2019-2020).
From March 2020 to November 2024, he was Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province. On November 11, 2024, he was elected to hold the position of Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, term XIX, 2020-2025.
Previously, on the same morning, the 20th Nghe An Provincial Party Congress elected the 20th Provincial Party Executive Committee, term 2025-2030 with 68 members.
