At the First Extraordinary Session, the 16th National Assembly voted to approve the appointment of Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai to hold the position of Minister of Home Affairs for the 2026-2031 term.

On August 3, at the First Extraordinary Session, the 16th National Assembly voted to approve the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai to hold the position of Minister of Home Affairs for the 2026-2031 term.

The results are as follows: 484 delegates participated in the voting, of which 483 delegates agreed (equal to 96.6% of the National Assembly delegates present); 1 delegate did not vote (equal to 0.2% of the National Assembly delegates present).

Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai was born on August 31, 1965, native of Tan Thanh ward, Ca Mau province; political theory level: Advanced; professional level: Bachelor of Laws, Master of Public Administration Management.

From July 2000 to present, he has held the positions of: Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial Youth Union; participated in the Executive Committee of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, held the position of Chief of Office of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Cai Nuoc District Party Committee, Director of the Department of Justice, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Deputy Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee; Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee.

On August 3, 2026, the 16th National Assembly voted to approve the Prime Minister's proposal on the appointment of Minister of Home Affairs for the 2026-2031 term for Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai.
