At the first session of the People's Council of Can Tho City, XI term, 2026 - 2031 on the afternoon of March 27, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee was elected to the position of Chairman of the City People's Committee, term 2026 - 2031 with 100% of delegates present voting for confidence.
Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Van Hoa, Vuong Quoc Nam, Nguyen Van Khoi, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, and Tran Chi Hung were elected to the position of Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee.
At the Meeting, members of Can Tho City People's Committee were also elected for the term 2026 - 2031.
At this session, the Can Tho City People's Council also agreed on the plan to organize regular meetings in 2026 of the City People's Council.
Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen was born on October 25, 1969, native of Thanh Hoa province. He is an official who grew up from the grassroots level, trained at: University of Economics, Master of Business and Management; Advanced Political Theory.
Mr. Tuyen has worked for a long time in the old Hau Giang province, now Can Tho City, and has held many positions.
On February 10, 2025, the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee awarded the decision to transfer and appoint Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2020 - 2025.
On February 20, 2025, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen was elected by the People's Council of Can Tho City, term X, 2021-2026, to hold the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City. By July 2025, after merging 3 localities (Can Tho, Hau Giang and former Soc Trang) into Can Tho City (new), Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen held the position of Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee.
On October 3, 2025, at the fourth session of the People's Council of Can Tho City, term X, 2021-2026, Mr. Tuyen was elected Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, term 2021-2026.
