Today, in the thousand-year-old capital of Hanoi - the heart of the whole country, where the cultural quintessence of our nation converges, I am very pleased to attend the Opening Ceremony of the National Newspaper Association in 2025 - an important event with profound political significance, at the same time, a cultural - professional festival for journalists and the press public nationwide.

The 2025 National Newspaper Association has a special meaning, organized on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1975 - June 21, 2025) - One hundred years since the first revolutionary newspaper of Vietnam - Thanh Nien, founded by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc, Vietnamese revolutionary press has gone through a historical journey associated with the sacred mission: Accompanying the nation, serving the Fatherland, serving the people. It is worth mentioning his words: Jury officers are also revolutionary soldiers. Pen and paper are their sharp weapons, generations of revolutionary journalists have always been steadfast, persistent, and at the forefront, affirming their role as a shock force on the ideological and cultural front, contributing to creating consensus, arousing the will and strong belief in the victory of the struggle for national liberation, national reunification, and the cause of innovation, development, and deep integration into current international life. The press is truly the voice of the Party and State, a trusting forum of the People; a strong bridge between the Party's will and the People's heart; an example reflecting the thoughts and aspirations of the whole society; a place to spread human values, encourage beauty, the right, resolutely fight against the bad and the wrong; take the lead in protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting and refuting erroneous and hostile views; light the people's belief in the path to socialism led by the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Along with the activities of the Presidium of press agencies chaired by the Vietnam Journalists Association in Guangzhou (China) - the birthplace of the Youth newspaper - Spokesperson of the "Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Union", following those activities, the 2025 National Press Association was organized with the theme "Vietnam Press - Loyal, Creative, brave, Innovation for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland" carefully and elaborately prepared, with the participation of many press agencies, press associations at all levels, and the enthusiastic attention of veteran journalists and the public nationwide.
This year's Newspaper Association is a vivid symbol of the spirit of inheritance and development: From the space to display the history of the press rich in identity, to exhibitions of press materials, press products, and the application of new technology, all have vividly demonstrated the development journey from traditional to modern, from print newspapers, electronic newspapers, spoken newspapers, visual newspapers to multi-platform newspapers, from "penny, paper pages" to "artificial intelligence and big data"...
Following the success of the first National Press Forum in 2024, at this year's Press Festival, the Vietnam Journalists Association organized the 2nd National Press Forum, with 12 in-depth discussion sessions, mentioning strategic and current issues of modern journalism such as comrade Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, which has just had very specific reports. This is not only an opportunity for the press to discuss expertise, but also an opportunity to reflect and shape a long-term development strategy for the country's revolutionary press in the context of globalization and digital transformation taking place strongly today. The participation of leaders of leading domestic press agencies, outstanding journalists and international media experts further clarifies the professionalism and high political quality of the Forum, demonstrating the prestige and position of Vietnamese press in the region.
sideline activities, such as the 3rd Journalists and Public Opinion Cup Football Tournament, art performances, interactive experiences, and awards for impressive exhibition booths - have contributed to creating a comprehensive and vibrant Newspaper Association space, spreading cultural values, community values, and the belief in a professional, humane, and modern press.
I warmly commend the Vietnam Journalists Association, associations at all levels, press agencies and units that have organized this year's Newspaper Association on an increasingly large scale, with increasingly high quality, modern and attractive form. This is the result of close and dedicated coordination, and at the same time, it is a testament to the sense of responsibility, love for the profession and aspiration to contribute of our team of journalists in Vietnam.

The rapid development of technology is strongly changing all areas of life, posing opportunities and challenges for the Vietnamese revolutionary press. Our Party and State are resolutely implementing the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus of agencies, units and localities, including the press system, with the goal of improving efficiency, effectiveness and efficiency, meeting the requirements of the practical situation, which is: Streamlining - to be stronger. Merging - to be more elite. Innovation - to maintain the mission of serving the people and accompanying the country.
In order for revolutionary press to fulfill its responsibility to the Fatherland and the people, each press agency and each journalist must always voluntarily study and improve professional knowledge; maintain and promote political will, and be determined to innovate more strongly; increase the application of technology, especially digital transformation, and artificial intelligence to change the production process, distribution, and access to press information. Innovation must be used as motivation, technology must be used as a tool to elevate Vietnamese journalism. Moreover, it is necessary to boldly innovate from within - innovate press leadership thinking, innovate publishing house models, innovate content production and distribution methods, and innovate relationships between the press and the public. The press needs to deepen its role as social criticism, protect the Party's ideological foundation, promote solidarity, create consensus, strongly arouse patriotism, national pride, inspire and aspirate to contribute, contributing to bringing the country firmly into a new era, an era of richness, civilization, prosperity, and national growth.
Vietnam's revolutionary press has gone through a glorious century. But glory is only truly valuable when it is continued with the desire to reach far. Today's festival is to remember, to show gratitude and also to let us look forward together. I hope that each journalist, each press agency will work together to create the next things: Innovation in thinking, renewal in expression and deeper in social roles. The public coming to the National Press Association today also affirmed their belief and expressed their hope that the team of loyal writers as well as revolutionary press products will truly shine, "leading the way" in the era of national growth.
General Secretary To Lam pointed out: "The new era also requires new, higher tasks for revolutionary journalism, requiring journalism to develop commensurately, rise up with the nation, worthy of a professional, humane, and modern journalism".
That advice is the strategic orientation, the act of action for us today - so that from this Newspaper Association, the Vietnamese revolutionary press can steadily enter the new period with a strong stance, the desire for innovation and the noble mission, which is: serving the Fatherland, serving the people. Each journalist will love their profession more, be steadfast and aspirational to continue on a new journey with a higher sense of commitment and responsibility, worthy of being a pioneer force on the ideological and cultural front in the new era.
