On the morning of November 5, the Ministry of National Defense held a press conference to introduce the 2nd Vietnam - Cambodia Border Defense Friendship Exchange (exchange) between the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) and the Royal Cambodian Army.
At the meeting, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc - Director of the Propaganda Department (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army) - said that in 2022, Vietnam and Cambodia organized the first exchange and achieved great success. On that basis, the two countries will continue to organize the second exchange in 2025. The event is also part of the celebration of the friendship years of the two countries.
Accordingly, the exchange will contribute to promoting good relations between the two countries; enhancing political trust between the two sides, opening up comprehensive cooperation. The event also helps the border guards of all sides coordinate well with each other, while opening up new conditions for better development for the people and authorities in the border area.
According to the Ministry of National Defense, the exchange period will take place from November 12 to 14, at the shared border area of the two countries in Tay Ninh and Svay Rieng province, Cambodia.
Within the framework of the exchange, there will be a number of activities taking place before November 12, including military examination and treatment coordination between the two countries, providing free medicine to people on the border; and exchanging young officers of the Vietnam - Cambodia army.
Colonel Le Van Dong - Deputy Director of the Military Medical Department - said that on the morning of November 5, medical examination and treatment activities in Cambodia organized by Military Hospital 175 took place, expected to examine 1,000 people. On November 6, the delegation will return to Tay Ninh to examine about 800 Vietnamese people.
According to Colonel Le Van Dong, Military Hospital 175 is the final level, with the highest qualifications and equipment in the Southern region. The unit will bring specialized techniques, high technology and modern equipment such as X-rays, ultrasounds, electrocardiograms... to people in border areas, where high technology is rarely available.
According to the Ministry of National Defense, during the exchange period, there were activities in Vietnam including welcoming ceremony for the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Cambodia; planting friendship trees; joint military drill between the two armies; inauguration ceremony of the Ben Cau Primary Boarding School (Tay Ninh),...
Activities taking place in Cambodia include welcoming and greeting ceremony for the Minister of National Defense of Vietnam; welcoming and embellishing ceremony for the 71st sovereignty marker; planting friendship trees; joint patrols between border management and protection forces of the two countries; attending the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Sang Sovan Primary School for the Friendship of Svay Teap District, Svay Rieng Province; visiting the headquarters of the Svay Rieng Provincial Military Command.
