On the afternoon of August 3, at the regular Government Press Conference in July 2026, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha informed the press about the results of arranging villages and residential groups.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha said that so far, 34/34 provinces and cities have completed the arrangement of villages and residential groups in accordance with the requirements of the Politburo and the Government.
The implementation process was carried out seriously, synchronously, publicly, democratically, creating high consensus among cadres, party members and people; contributing to maintaining political stability and social order and safety in each area.
Regarding specific results, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs said that after arrangement, the number of villages and residential groups nationwide decreased from 89,589 units to 48,078 units. Thus, after arrangement, it has decreased by 41,511 units (equivalent to a decrease of 46.33%).
The arrangement not only streamlines focal points but also improves management scale. The proportion of villages and residential groups meeting the standards according to regulations has been increased and basically overcome the situation of small and dispersed scale.
At the same time, still ensuring the stability of villages and residential groups with specific factors in history, culture, ethnicity, religion, national defense, security and geographical location.
Along with the arrangement, localities have also completed the consolidation of Party organizations, Fatherland Front Work Committees and socio-political organizations associated with arranging, using, and resolving policies in a synchronous and timely manner for non-specialized personnel at the commune level, in villages, and residential groups;
Arrange facilities, hand over dossiers, assets and other necessary conditions for new villages and residential groups to operate immediately upon establishment and not interrupt the operation of the political system at the grassroots level and the lives of the people.
The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs affirmed that the arrangement of villages and residential groups has completed the goals, requirements, and progress of the Politburo according to Conclusion No. 34; contributing to streamlining the organization at the grassroots level and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the political system's operations; promoting the self-management role of the residential community.
At the same time, implementing the restructuring and improving the quality of non-specialized personnel in the direction of prioritizing people with capacity, prestige, qualifications and the ability to apply information technology, better meeting the management requirements of the grassroots level in the new period.
