On February 17, the People's Council of Soc Trang province held its 29th session (special session) to pass many important resolutions. Including the rearrangement of the apparatus of specialized agencies under the Provincial People's Committee.

Accordingly, Soc Trang will maintain the Provincial People's Committee and Provincial Inspectorate Office. At the same time, 16 specialized agencies will be reorganized (of which 11 agencies are under the decision-making authority of the Provincial People's Council and 5 agencies are under the decision-making authority of the Provincial People's Committee).
A notable point is the merger of some departments and branches to reduce management units. Merge the Department of Planning and Investment and the Department of Finance into the Department of Finance. Merge the Department of Transport and the Department of Construction into the Department of Construction. Merge the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development into the Department of Agriculture and Environment.
Merge the Department of Information and Communications and the Department of Science and Technology into the Department of Science and Technology. Merge the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs and the Department of Home Affairs into the Department of Home Affairs. Establish the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions on the basis of the Ethnic Committee, receiving additional functions and tasks of state management of religion from the Department of Home Affairs.
Along with reorganizing specialized agencies under the Provincial People's Committee, the internal organization of specialized agencies will be streamlined, effective and efficient, improving the quality of the team and streamlining the payroll in a thorough manner in conjunction with the policy of attracting talented people to the public sector.
After completing the arrangement, Soc Trang will have 13 specialized agencies under the Provincial People's Committee with 92 internal organizations (including 80 departments, 12 branches/equivalents and 87 public service units). Compared to before the arrangement, the province has reduced 5 specialized agencies and 21 internal organizations (15 departments, 3 branches/equivalents and 3 public service units).
In addition, at this session, the People's Council of Soc Trang province also approved 4 other important submissions, including: adjusting some key indicators on socio-economic development in 2025; allocating public investment plans in 2025; partially abolishing the Resolution on regulations on areas where livestock farming is not allowed and areas for raising bird and bird farming; regulating the content and level of state budget expenditure for implementing production development projects like national key ones.
The delegates also agreed to dismiss Mr. Bui Quoc Khanh - Former Director of Soc Trang Provincial Police from the position of member of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province for the term (2021 - 2026) due to receiving a new assignment.
