On the afternoon of September 9, speaking after being elected by the Provincial People's Council to hold the position of Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan affirmed that he would work with the provincial leadership collective to unlock resources, bringing the locality to develop quickly - green - modern and sustainable.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan, on the basis of tradition, culture and achievements, Dong Thap needs to transform potential into resources, resources into value and value into practical benefits for the people.
In the period 2026-2030, the province aims for double-digit economic growth, while improving productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness, linking growth with social progress, protecting the environment and improving the quality of people's lives. To achieve that goal, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan identified 5 groups of solutions.
First, reorganize the development space and create breakthroughs in infrastructure. The province will increase connectivity between regions, expand links with Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta region, logistics centers and seaports; take transport infrastructure as a foundation to expand development space, reduce logistics costs and attract investment.
Second, build a modern, green and high-value agriculture. Dong Thap will shift from agricultural production thinking to agricultural economy; from raw materials to deep processing, from output to quality and value, developing linkage chains. The final measure is value per unit area and actual income of farmers.
Third, create motivation from industry, logistics, trade, services and the private economy. In which, focus on deep processing associated with raw material areas, improving the quality of industrial zones and clusters, developing logistics and border trade, and building a transparent and favorable investment environment.
Fourth, taking science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and high-quality human resources as new growth drivers. Technology is expected to improve productivity, reduce costs, create new products and improve management efficiency.
Fifth, link economic development with culture and people. Historical and cultural values are considered resources for tourism, cultural industry, creative economy and building local brands. Development must improve people's lives, not trade off the environment, culture and social security.
In his new position, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan is committed to building an action-oriented, serving, disciplined and effective government, with the motto "clear people, clear tasks, clear responsibilities, clear time, clear products/consequences and clear authority". Issues under his authority must be proactively resolved; bottlenecks must have people responsible, not avoiding, not pushing, not letting development opportunities be missed due to slow implementation.
The new Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that he will maintain the spirit of being receptive, closely following grassroots levels, listening to people and businesses; saying and doing, daring to think, daring to do and daring to take responsibility for the common good. He emphasized that the development results of Dong Thap and the increasingly prosperous and happy life of the people will be the highest measure of the responsibility of provincial leaders.
