VNA reported that after successfully concluding the official visit to the Republic of Algeria and after nearly 9 hours of flight, at 6:05 a.m. on November 21 local time (ie 11:05 a.m. on the same day as Hanoi time), the plane carrying Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation arrived at O.R. airport. Tambo in Johannesburg, starting to attend the G20 Summit, along with bilateral activities in South Africa from November 21-24 at the invitation of President of the South African Republic and G20 Chair in 2025 Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa.
This is the first visit of a Vietnamese Prime Minister to South Africa in 21 years.
Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation at the airport, on the South African route there were representatives of the Government, representatives of the South African Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and contacts.
On the Vietnamese side were Vietnamese Ambassador to South Africa Hoang Sy Cuong; officials and staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in South Africa.

The 2025 G20 Summit will be held in the city of Johannesburg, the largest city in South Africa and the world.
The conference took place from November 22-23 with the theme "Solidarity, Equality and Sustainable Development", focusing on 4 key areas: Strengthening resilience and response to natural disasters; Promoting sustainable debt management for low-income countries; Mobilizing finance for equitable energy transition; Leveraging essential minerals to serve inclusive and sustainable growth.
The summit is expected to have the participation of leaders of G20 member countries, guest countries such as Egypt, Portugal, Denmark, the Netherlands, Ireland, Malaysia, Norway, New Zealand, Nigeria, Finland, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and representatives of leaders of 23 international and regional organizations.
This is the second consecutive year that Vietnam has been invited to attend the G20 Summit. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang said that this is a strong affirmation of Vietnam's increasingly high prestige, position and role, the recognition and appreciation of partners, especially the G20, for Vietnam's development achievements and substantial contributions and responsibility in common world issues.
At the G20 Summit, as a guest of the G20 South African President, the Prime Minister will have important shares, assessments and proposals to contribute to building a fair, inclusive and sustainable international economic order and a global economic governance system; promote world economic growth, reduce risks, promote cooperation in strategic areas such as minerals, energy, etc.
The Prime Minister will also have many bilateral meetings with leaders of countries and international organizations to promote cooperation in strategic areas for Vietnam such as green transformation, digital transformation, innovation, strategic infrastructure development, high-quality human resource development, etc., thereby maximizing international resources to serve the country's development goals.
