The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that on the afternoon of April 29, in Ho Chi Minh City, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith on the occasion of attending the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the Inauguration Ceremony of Wharf No. 3, Laos - Vietnam International Port, at Vung Ang Economic Zone.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his deep gratitude to the Lao Party, State and people for always standing side by side and wholeheartedly supporting the Party, State and people of Vietnam in the past struggle for independence as well as in the current cause of national construction and development.
The Prime Minister affirmed that in the past, Vietnam always gave the highest priority to the special and rare solidarity relationship with Laos and always stood side by side, strongly and comprehensively supporting the protection, construction, innovation and development of Laos; expressed his joy at the increasingly developing Vietnam - Laos relationship, with many positive changes in various fields in recent times, which is a premise for the two countries to firmly and confidently enter a new era of national development.
General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith affirmed that the Great Spring Victory of 1975 is a glorious and proud historical milestone not only for Vietnam but also for Laos, creating a favorable premise for the Lao army and people to advance to win the entire year of 1975.
The 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of Vietnam is also an opportunity for the people of the two countries to review the history of the combat alliance and special solidarity in Vietnam - Laos.
The General Secretary and President of Laos emphasized that the inauguration ceremony of Wharf No. 3, Lao - Vietnam International Port is an extremely important political event, a vivid symbol of the unique relationship between Vietnam and Laos, conveying a strong message, thanks to Vietnam, from a country without a sea, Laos has a "road to the sea", Laos has gone from a landlockless country to a connecting country.

General Secretary, President Thongloun Sisoulith affirmed that the Party, the State and the people of Laos will do their best to preserve and nurture the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos; Appreciating the fierce coordination of the two Prime Ministers and emphasizing the importance of the two government's coordination mechanisms along with the efforts of ministries, branches and localities in the two countries in well implementing high -level agreements of the two countries, agreements between the two governments as well as cooperation programs and cooperation plans on both sides.
On this occasion, the two leaders exchanged some directions and tasks in the two countries' relations in the coming time.
