President Luong Cuong attends the inauguration of Wharf No. 3 of Lao - Vietnam International Port

On the afternoon of April 28, President Luong Cuong and General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith attended the inauguration ceremony of wharf No. 3 of Laos - Vietnam International Port.

According to VNA, attending the inauguration ceremony with Politburo member and President Luong Cuong and General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith were Politburo member, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense; Politburo member, General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security; Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung.

The Lao - Vietnam International Port Port No. 3 Wharf Project in Vung Ang Economic Zone, Ky Anh Town, Ha Tinh was granted an investment registration certificate by the Ha Tinh Economic Zone Management Board, with a port length of 225m, capable of receiving ships carrying 45,000 DWT of cargo. With an exploitation capacity of up to 2.15 million tons of goods/year, the port has a land area of 43,928m2 and a water surface of 42,000m2.

The operation of Wharf No. 3 will contribute to ensuring infrastructure for the socio-economic development of the region and the two countries of Vietnam and Laos, meeting the increasing demand for goods circulation; along with Wharf No. 1 and No. 2, the output of goods passing through the port will increase from 4.5 million tons/year to over 6.5 tons/year.

This event not only marks a new step in the development of Laos - Vietnam International Port Joint Stock Company but also demonstrates the in-depth, practical and effective implementation of commitments between the Governments of Vietnam and Laos on Investment Cooperation in developing wharves 1, 2 and 3, Vung Ang Port, helping Laos have seaports, open up international integration, facilitate the export and import of goods by sea, deepen the solidarity and economic cooperation between Vietnam - Laos, thereby clearly demonstrating the special trust and affection between comrades and brothers of Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Lao Prime Minister Saleumxay Komasith affirmed that this was a valuable gift that the Party, the State and the people of Vietnam gave to the Party, State and people of Laos; At the same time, the affirmation of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation before and after as one between the two parties and the two states.

Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Komasith hopes that in the coming time, Laos will continue to receive experience in port management operations from Vietnam; at the same time, he affirmed that the Lao side will certainly work with Vietnamese comrades to use Vung Ang port most effectively, bringing practical benefits to the people of Laos and Vietnam.

For his part, the Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized that the opening event of wharf No. 3, Laos - Vietnam International Port has a particularly important meaning, marking a new step in the cooperation between the two parties, the two countries, highlighting the cohesion, especially reliable, heartworthy and meaningful between comraders, brothers Vietnam - Laos, Laos, Vietnam. This project not only affirms the position of Vung Ang economic zone in the Logistics network of the region, but also a symbol of friendship and durable cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

On this occasion, President Luong Cuong, General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and leaders of the two countries visited the No. 3 wharf to witness the opening ceremony of the ship.
