Prime Minister requests Rosatom to actively support Vietnam in developing the nuclear energy industry

Rosatom is committed to promoting cooperation with Vietnam to realize high-level agreements between the two countries.

On the afternoon of December 11, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a phone call with General Director of the Russian Federal Energy Corporation (Rosatom) Alexey Likhachev on cooperation in developing Vietnam's nuclear energy industry.

At the phone call, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Russian Federation and the Soviet Union have previously made important contributions to the development of Vietnam's energy sector, including nuclear energy for peaceful purposes; helped train many generations of leading scientists and experts, serving as an important foundation for the development of Vietnam's nuclear energy sector as it is today.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam has always attached importance to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the Russian Federation, considering Russia one of its top priority partners. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the recent exchanges between the two sides at all levels, including the highest level. The Prime Minister had meetings with the President of the Russian Federation and the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation; both sides affirmed their determination to promote cooperation, implement projects soon, and practically serve Vietnam's development needs during this important period.

Inviting Director General Alexey Likhachev to soon visit Vietnam again and through the General Director to send Christmas and New Year greetings to the President and Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Rosatom actively coordinate and support Vietnam in developing the nuclear energy industry for peaceful purposes.

Rosatom General Director Alexey Likhachev thanked Vietnam in general and the Prime Minister in particular for trusting and selecting Russia as a partner for developing the nuclear energy industry. As a leading group in nuclear energy and having cooperated with Vietnam for many years, Rosatom is committed to promoting cooperation with Vietnam to realize high-level agreements between the two countries.

In the spirit of sincerity, goodwill, and urgency, at the phone call, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and General Director of Rosatom discussed a number of specific contents for the development of Vietnam's nuclear energy industry; agreed to direct relevant agencies of both sides to continue to complete specific programs, projects, and agreements to soon reach signing and implementation, with the motto "harmonious benefits, shared risks".

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Rosatom continue to support Vietnam in building and developing Nuclear Research Centers; training human resources, state management in the field of nuclear energy; cooperating with Vietnam in investment in important fields of nuclear energy serving people such as nuclear medicine, radiation, etc.

Agreeing with the opinion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, General Director Alexey Likhachev said that Rosatom will transfer technology; localize nuclear products to Vietnam; support Vietnam in developing science, nuclear industry... to use nuclear energy for the purpose of peace and socio-economic development of Vietnam.
