On September 17, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh - Head of State Direction for important national projects and works, key to the Transport sector - chaired the 14th meeting of the Steering Committee.
According to the Office of the Government, the meeting aims to review and urge work after the 13th meeting and discuss solutions, continue to remove difficulties and obstacles, and speed up the progress of works and projects.
In his opening speech, the Prime Minister stated that, to date, the list of projects monitored by the Steering Committee includes 40 major projects/92 component projects in 3 areas: Road, railway and aviation, passing through 48 provinces and centrally-run cities.
The Prime Minister emphasized that from now until the end of 2025, there are only about 15 months left, the workload is very large. Therefore, the Prime Minister suggested discussing solutions to speed up progress, ensure project quality; apply valuable experiences from the 500kV power line project, circuit 3.
Accordingly, it is necessary to create a vibrant emulation movement, mobilize forces, and create a combined strength with the entire political system participating under the leadership and direction of the Party Committee, government, and the active participation of the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations.
Main contractors mobilize more subcontractors to create jobs and livelihoods for people and businesses and improve the capacity of local contractors, with the spirit of "working together, winning together, enjoying together, and developing together".
The Prime Minister also took time to analyze the importance of strategic transport infrastructure.
In particular, preliminary statistics show that super typhoon No. 3 caused about 40,000 billion VND in damage. We must have solutions to compensate for these damages, including the task of promoting public investment disbursement and promoting 3 strategic breakthroughs, including strategic breakthroughs in transport infrastructure.
Therefore, the implementation of key national transport infrastructure projects is an important political task, also demonstrating "national love and compatriotism". Ministries, branches, localities and enterprises must focus on doing it with the spirit and responsibility for the people and the country. Once said, it must be done, once committed, it must be implemented.
At the same time, commend and reward places that do well and handle cases of delay, shirking, avoiding responsibility, and failure to complete tasks according to regulations of the Party and State.
Expressing dissatisfaction with some sectors and localities returning public investment capital while many localities are in need of capital, the Prime Minister asked ministries and sectors to learn from experience and rectify their work.
At the 13th meeting on August 8, 2024, the Prime Minister assigned 42 tasks to ministries, branches and localities, focusing on removing difficulties and obstacles, speeding up the progress of site clearance and providing construction materials, especially for key transport projects in the southern region.
According to the report of the Ministry of Transport, up to now, the units have completed 11 tasks on time, are actively implementing 28 tasks of regular direction and operation, 1 task has not yet been due, 2 tasks have not been completed on time, of which a number of important tasks have been completed.
