On the afternoon of March 9, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a phone conversation with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, exchanging views on the regional situation and bilateral relations between Vietnam and Kuwait.
At the phone call, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the greetings of General Secretary To Lam and Vietnamese leaders to the King and senior leaders of Kuwait. Recalling the feelings that the King, Prime Minister, senior leaders and people of Kuwait have given to the Vietnamese high-level delegation during the Prime Minister's visit in November 2025, the Prime Minister requested the two sides to continue to pay attention to promoting the implementation of the agreements reached, promoting the Vietnam - Kuwait Strategic Partnership to develop more substantively and effectively.
The Prime Minister expressed deep concern about the developments of the current conflict in the Middle East and shared the difficulties of the people in the region. The Prime Minister highly appreciated and hoped that Kuwait and related countries would continue to exercise restraint, promote efforts to reduce tensions, and seek peaceful solutions for the region on the basis of respecting international law, the United Nations Charter and ensuring the legitimate rights of all parties. Vietnam is ready to actively contribute to this process.
Kuwait Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah respectfully thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and senior leaders of Vietnam for sharing the difficulties of the Kuwaiti people in the current context, and highly appreciated Vietnam's role, goodwill and responsibility in contributing to finding peaceful solutions in the Middle East region.
In the context of complicated conflict developments, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked and requested the Government of Kuwait to continue to support ensuring security and safety for Vietnamese citizens in Kuwait, creating favorable conditions for the evacuation of Vietnamese citizens. The Prime Minister of Kuwait pledged to coordinate to ensure the safety of Vietnamese citizens in Kuwait and create conditions for Vietnamese citizens to evacuate and relocate if necessary. Before the proposal of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Prime Minister of Kuwait agreed to coordinate with relevant partners to consider continuing to supply crude oil to Vietnam, and at the same time agreed to promote energy cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.
The two Prime Ministers agreed to continue to direct ministries and sectors to implement the results achieved during the official visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Kuwait in November 2025, determined to transform the commitments and agreements during the visit into specific and substantive cooperation, especially in areas where the two sides are interested and have strengths such as energy, food security, Halal, tourism...
