On the morning of May 8, continuing the program of attending the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu (Philippines), Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung had a working breakfast with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.
In a friendly and friendly atmosphere, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung affirmed that Vietnam always values the traditional relationship of solidarity and attachment with Cambodia and Laos, and affirmed that in his new position, he will strive to cultivate the three-country relationship, cooperate closely with the two Prime Ministers of Cambodia and Laos to jointly turn the "traditional affection" between the three countries into a "driver for development" and turn the "geographical proximity" into a "strategic linkage advantage" for the three countries to develop quickly and sustainably.
Enthusiastically congratulating Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on taking on his new position full of responsibility, the two Prime Ministers of Cambodia and Laos thanked Vietnam for its effective support and cooperation in many fields that Vietnam has given to Cambodia and Laos in recent years; affirmed that they will cooperate closely and regularly with Prime Minister Le Minh Hung to continue to bring the trilateral relationship to a more substantive and effective development in the coming time.
The three Prime Ministers expressed their pleasure that the three countries' relations have continued to be strengthened in the past time. The high-level delegation exchanges between Vietnam - Cambodia, Vietnam - Laos as well as the meeting between the three leaders of the three Parties (February 6, 2026) have created new momentum and oriented comprehensive cooperation between the three countries.
The three countries continue to closely coordinate in border management and protection, combating transnational crime and high-tech crime; trade and investment are maintained stably, and some projects of Vietnamese businesses in Cambodia and Laos are being effectively implemented.
In the context of the world situation causing negative impacts on the economies of countries in the region, the three Prime Ministers agreed to continue to maintain high-level exchanges and contacts, promote existing mechanisms to promote bilateral cooperation as well as trilateral cooperation; promote defense and security cooperation, actively share information, cooperate and support each other in combating and preventing online crime and fraud; agreed to create breakthroughs to connect the economy, supply chains, transport connectivity, open more direct flights between major cities, connect energy, logistics and cross-border trade, promote the substantive implementation of strategic infrastructure development cooperation projects; continue to simplify entry and exit procedures and diversify tourism products.
Committing to promote propaganda about the achievements of cooperation and solidarity and friendship between the three countries and three peoples, the three Prime Ministers also agreed to coordinate to well organize events to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos, the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia in 2027; continue to coordinate and support each other at regional and international forums, especially within the ASEAN framework and Mekong sub-region mechanisms.
