On October 21, the Standing Agency of the National Steering Committee for Overcoming the consequences of bombs, mines and toxic chemicals after the war in Vietnam (Steering Committee 701) held a conference to mobilize funding for resources to serve the work of overcoming the consequences of bombs and mines after the war in Vietnam.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the Standing Agency of the National Steering Committee for Overcoming the consequences of bombs, mines and chemical toxins after the war in Vietnam - chaired the conference.
The report at the conference by Major General Tran Trung Hoa - Commander of the Engineering Corps, General Director of the Vietnam National B order and Mines Action Center - stated that in the period of 2023 - 2024, under the direction of the Ministry of National Defense - Standing Agency of the National Steering Committee for Overcoming the consequences of bombs, mines and chemical toxins after the war in Vietnam, the Vietnam National B order and Mines Action Center has closely coordinated with ministries, branches, localities, and international organizations to comprehensively implement the goals and tasks of the program and plans to overcome the consequences of bombs and mines after the war, achieving encouraging results.
The agencies have mobilized 44 projects with a total committed aid value of 138.5 million USD; organized education on mine accident prevention with more than 1,900 direct propaganda sessions, hundreds of mobile propaganda sessions, in newspapers and television; thousands of loudspeakers and film screening in communes, districts, and units; produced hundreds of propaganda messages and slogans.
In addition, the Ministry of National Defense has presided over and coordinated with ministries, branches and localities to conduct investigation, survey and mine clearance activities nationwide for more than 73,000 hectares. The focus is on the project "Bomb, mine, and explosives blasting to serve the search and collection of the remains of martyrs who died in the war to protect the Fatherland in Ha Giang province" in the period of 2020 - 2025, which has completed 3,200 hectares.
Speaking at the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien requested that in the coming time, the Vietnam National bomb and mine Action Center and the competent agencies of the Ministry of National Defense closely coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to further accelerate the progress of overcoming the consequences of bomb and mines; continue to complete records and documents to further improve the effectiveness of overcoming the consequences of bomb and mines after the war in Vietnam; actively implement international cooperation activities, mobilize resources; build and implement projects to overcome the consequences of bombs and mines; improve human resource training and coaching capacity, strengthen information management; promote communication and education activities, raise awareness of preventing and minimizing bomb and mine accidents in localities.
At the Conference, representatives of domestic and international organizations and enterprises presented enthusiastic presentations, direct sponsorship or sponsorship commitments clearly demonstrating the responsibility of "Joining hands to overcome the consequences of bombs and mines - leaving no one behind"; signed memorandums of understanding, documents pledging to sponsor and support livelihoods for bomb victims and awarded collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in overcoming the consequences of bombs and mines in Vietnam in recent times.
