On the afternoon of February 2nd, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam had a cordial reception with Special Envoy of the Communist Party of Cuba, State of the Republic of Cuba, Politburo Member, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla within the framework of his visit to Vietnam from February 1st to 3rd.
The General Secretary expressed his joy and emotion at welcoming the Special Envoy of the Party and State of Cuba to visit Vietnam immediately after the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam was successfully held, bringing the warmest congratulatory message from the Party, State and fraternal Cuban people.
On behalf of the leaders of the Party and State of Cuba, Special Envoy Bruno Rodríguez once again conveyed the message of Cuban senior leaders warmly congratulating the Communist Party of Vietnam on successfully organizing the XIV Congress as well as congratulating the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Comrade emphasized that the Communist Party of Cuba highly appreciates the great and historically significant achievements that Vietnam has achieved over 40 years of Doi Moi (Renovation) and firmly believes that the Resolution of the XIV Congress will be the "compass" to bring Vietnam into a new era - the era of national rise.
At the reception, the two sides exchanged and reached high consensus on major directions and measures to bring the traditional friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba to become deeper, more practical and effective in the coming period, in accordance with the new context of each country and internationally.
The two sides agreed to continue to strengthen high-level delegation exchanges; maintain regular and flexible cooperation mechanisms, exchange theories, and share practical experiences on Party building, cadre training and state management. Considering this an important political foundation to consolidate strategic trust between the two Parties.
Regarding economic cooperation, the General Secretary emphasized that there must be breakthroughs to be commensurate with good political relations, affirming that Vietnam will continue to share experiences and effectively implement cooperation projects on rice, contributing to helping Cuba gradually become food self-sufficient, and at the same time, encouraging and creating conditions for businesses to invest in Cuba.
Comrade Bruno Rodríguez affirmed that the Party and State of Cuba always prioritize strengthening cooperation with Vietnam in potential fields such as solar energy, consumer goods production, tourism and pharmaceuticals; continue to closely coordinate in international multilateral forums; educate the young generation of the two countries about the tradition of Vietnam - Cuba relations to further develop this special friendship and cooperation relationship.
At the end of the reception, the General Secretary, through the Special Envoy of the Party and State of Cuba, conveyed his cordial greetings and wishes for good health to the Revolutionary leader, General Raúl Castro; First Secretary, President Miguel Díaz Canel and senior Cuban leaders.
