At the phone call, President Lee Jae Myung congratulated the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam on its successful conclusion and General Secretary To Lam's continued election as General Secretary of the 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
President Lee Jae Myung affirmed that he values relations with Vietnam; always considers Vietnam as a key priority partner in implementing foreign policies in the region; affirmed that he will continue to closely cooperate with General Secretary To Lam to strengthen the relationship between the two countries to develop strongly, substantively and more effectively in the coming time.
General Secretary To Lam respectfully thanked the Korean side for sending congratulatory messages to the 14th Party Congress early; sincerely thanked President Lee Jae Myung for sending congratulatory messages on the occasion of General Secretary To Lam being elected to continue to assume the position of General Secretary of the 14th Party Central Committee.
Congratulating South Korea's important development achievements, General Secretary To Lam expressed his belief that under the leadership of President Lee Jae Myung, South Korea will continue to develop strongly; emphasizing that Vietnam consistently considers South Korea as one of the top priority partners in Vietnam's foreign policy; affirming that Vietnam will continue to be a reliable, stable and responsible partner with the international community, and effectively implement the agreements reached with South Korea.
The two sides agreed to continue to consolidate political trust as a solid foundation to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through strengthening high-level and all-level delegation exchanges, continuing to expand defense and security cooperation, and deploying defense industry and military trade projects.
The two sides affirmed their efforts to promote breakthroughs in economic cooperation - the main pillar of the two countries' relations, encouraging Korean businesses to expand investment in Vietnam, especially in the fields of semiconductors, manufacturing high-tech electronic equipment, building in-depth industrial production complexes along the value chain through projects of large Korean corporations; continue to facilitate trade, open markets for each other's goods, strive to soon achieve the target of bilateral trade turnover of 150 billion USD by 2030; strengthen cooperation in the field of science and technology - a new pillar of cooperation in the two countries' relations; continue to expand cultural, tourism, and local cooperation and constantly cultivate friendship and understanding between the people of the two countries.
Thanking President Lee Jae Myung for his congratulations on Vietnam's achievement of winning 3rd place at the 2026 AFC U23 Championship, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated South Korea's effective contributions in the field of sports, especially the team of Korean experts including football coaches who have made great contributions to the development of Vietnamese sports; emphasizing the desire for the two countries to cooperate and accompany more deeply to achieve greater achievements, becoming a symbol of the relationship between the two countries.
General Secretary To Lam requested the Korean side to actively share experiences and support Vietnam in successfully organizing the APEC 2027 Summit in Phu Quoc; and promote the early organization of the Mekong - Korea Summit.
