At noon on August 12, local time, General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation left Canberra capital, successfully concluding a state visit to Australia (from August 9-12) and a state visit to New Zealand.
Seeing off the delegation at Canberra International Airport (Capital Canberra) were: Representative of Governor-General of Australia Jeff Barnes; representative of Australian Prime Minister Patrick Gorman; Deputy Chief of the Prime Minister and Cabinet Office Justin Hayhurst; Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Gillian Bird; Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam and his wife; Vietnamese Consul General in Sydney Nguyen Thanh Tung; Vietnamese Consul General in Perth Pham Hai Anh; officials and staff of Vietnamese representative agencies in Australia and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Australia.
Within the framework of the visit, immediately after the official welcoming ceremony solemnly held at the Governor-General's Palace, General Secretary and President To Lam met with Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn; held talks with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese; met with the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives; received the Special Envoy of the Australian Government to Southeast Asia; received leaders of the Opposition League, Chairman of the Liberal Party of Australia; attended and spoke at the Forum on Science, Technology, Innovation, Education and Training and Human Resource Development; received intellectuals and typical scientists of the Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts Association in Australia; received leaders of a number of businesses and economic groups in Australia.
At the meetings, the two sides reaffirmed the solid foundation of the Vietnam-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, built on strategic trust and mutual understanding over the past 50 years. The two sides agreed to deepen political, defense, security and judicial cooperation; strengthen economic cohesion; share knowledge and connect people; strengthen cooperation on climate, environment and energy; promote cooperation in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation; strengthen regional and international cooperation.
Within the framework of the visit, in Canberra capital, General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation attended the inauguration ceremony of the Vietnamese House and met with the Vietnamese community in Australia and Solomon Islands; attended the inauguration ceremony of the new headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia.
