This morning (September 31), in Hanoi, General Secretary To Lam - Secretary of the Central Military Commission - chaired a meeting with delegates of the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, revolutionary veterans, pre-upgrade cadres, generals, and heroes of the People's Armed Forces to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day, the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Also attending the meeting were Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee: Head of the Central Organization Committee Le Minh Hung; Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee Phan Dinh Trac.

The program is an opportunity for the Party, State and Army to express their deep gratitude and honor those who have woven glorious pages of history, maintained national independence, defended the Fatherland and contributed to building a strong country.

The report at the Conference said that through the resistance wars, the whole country had more than 1.2 million martyrs, 9.2 million people with meritorious services to the revolution, and relatives of meritorious people.
The Party and State have had many policies to care for the material and spiritual lives of meritorious people (issuing the Ordinance on preferential treatment for people with revolutionary contributions; Ordinance on honoring the State title of "Heroic Vietnamese Mothers"), focusing all resources to improve the conditions for educational care, medical treatment for war invalids and sick soldiers at Nursing Centers for War Invalids and War Invalids and meritorious People, victims of Agent Orange/dioxin.

Over the past 5 years, the entire army has mobilized cadres, soldiers and military enterprises to support the construction and repair of over 43,400 Houses of Love, Company Houses, and Great Unity Houses; eliminated 9,800 temporary houses for policy families, people with revolutionary contributions and poor households with an amount of over VND 2,430 billion; donated over 1,100 savings books with an amount of over VND 6.2 billion.
Units and localities have been caring for 2,879 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers (currently 595 mothers are still alive); sponsoring 702 children of martyrs and war invalids... In many localities, martyrs' cemeteries are being cared for carefully, and the steles with meritorious services are being solemnly restored, clearly expressing the message: "No one is forgotten, no one is left behind".
The results of the gratitude-rewarding festival of the entire Party and army continue to demonstrate their affection and responsibility towards the war invalids, martyrs and families with meritorious services to the revolution, contributing to promoting the tradition of "remembering the source of water when drinking water", "loyal love and affection", respect and gratitude for generations of generals and heroes of the armed forces, soldiers and people who have not spare their blood for the independence, freedom and national unity, for the happiness of the people, contributing to beautifying the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era.
