On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), on the morning of August 5, in Ninh Binh, General Secretary To Lam - Secretary of the Central Military Commission and the Central Working Group visited and worked at the 12th Corps (Ministry of National Defense).
Also attending were Politburo members, Party Central Committee Secretaries: Head of the Central Organization Committee Le Minh Hung, Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee Nguyen Trong Nghia.
Also attending were General Luong Tam Quang - Politburo member, Minister of Public Security; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Le Hoai Trung; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission Tran Luu Quang.
According to VNA, in his speech directing and encouraging officers and soldiers of the 12th Army Corps, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the 12th Army Corps is identified as a key Army, a strategic mobilization organized in the direction of "refined, compact, strong", moving towards modernity.
The formation of the 12th Army Corps is a unit with a long tradition, trained in revolutionary war and training, combat readiness (SSCD), achieving many feats and outstanding achievements.
Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the General Secretary noted that the requirements for the 12th Army Corps must also be higher, more urgent, more practical, requiring leaders and commanders at all levels to innovate their thinking, strictly comply with regulations, be exemplary, and dare to sacrifice personal rights for the army and the task.
The General Secretary requested that it is necessary to regularly thoroughly grasp the Party's viewpoints, guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on military, defense and national defense; focusing on the Resolution of the 8th Central Committee, 13th tenure on the Strategy for National Defense in the new situation.
Building the 12th Army Corps as the "steel fist" of the army
The General Secretary stated that the 12th Army Corps needs to focus on doing a good job of political and ideological education and traditional education of the Party, people, Army and units; building for officers and soldiers to always have steadfast and steadfast political will, deeply aware of the situation and tasks, constantly upholding revolutionary heroism, honoring and being proud of being officers and soldiers of the 12th Army Corps "refined, compact, strong", "the steel fist" of the army and the people, ready to receive and complete all assigned tasks well; must educate the army according to the motto "one before, one behind", "good training, strict discipline, high marksmanship", "the soldiers are victory";
Actively and urgently review and closely coordinate with localities and units after we organize the implementation of the 2-level local government model to arrange a suitable national defense posture; promptly complete the SSCD plan, regional defense and civil defense operations, associated with maintaining strict implementation of the SSCD regime, ensuring no passive or surprised situations in all situations.
For the locality where the army is stationed, it is necessary to further promote the task of "being a working army, a production labor army" to help the locality fulfill its socio-economic development tasks, and be a solid and reliable support for the Party Committee, government and people.
The General Secretary clearly stated the requirement to regularly care for improving the material and spiritual life of the army; study and propose to the General Staff and the Ministry of National Defense a number of appropriate policies for the number of soldiers after completing their military service, returning to their localities or participating in other forms of production labor, studying or other suitable forms of contribution; effectively implement the military rear policy, pay attention to policy beneficiaries managed by the Army to link the unit with the "rear" of the unit.
Previously, General Secretary To Lam and the Central delegation offered incense at the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs of the 12th Army Corps; visited the 12th Army Corps Museum and recorded in the Traditional Golden Book; planted a souvenir tree in the grounds of the 12th Army Corps Command Headquarters.
