Modernizing weapons and technical equipment
On the morning of January 14, in Hanoi, the General Department of Logistics and Technology (Ministry of National Defense) solemnly organized the Ceremony to receive the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces".
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that through more than 81 years of building, fighting, winning and growing, under the leadership, education, and training of our Party and President Ho Chi Minh, our Army has overcome countless hardships and challenges, together with the entire people, making great victories in the cause of national liberation, national defense and fulfilling international obligations.

The General Secretary noted that in the coming years, the world and regional situation will continue to be complicated and unpredictable. Domestically, under the leadership of the Party, after 40 years of renovation, the country has achieved many great achievements of historical significance, but still faces many difficulties and challenges.
To excellently complete the assigned tasks, the General Secretary requested the General Department of Logistics and Technology to focus on thoroughly grasping, learning, and implementing resolutions, directives, conclusions, and regulations of the Central Government, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense...; advise the Party, State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense on guidelines, solutions, mechanisms, and policies on logistics and technical work for military and defense tasks; develop plans and schemes to ensure logistics and technical work in accordance with the strategy of building a people's national defense and the policy of socio-economic development combined with national defense and security, especially strategic areas, borders, islands, ethnic minority areas, and mountainous areas; advise on the effective implementation of projects, coordination programs, investment in production, procurement, repair, improvement, and modernization of weapons and technical equipment.
Improving the combat strength of the Army
The General Secretary requested to promote the spirit of proactiveness, creativity, self-reliance, and self-strengthening to ensure timely and sufficient material, weapons, logistical and technical equipment for units performing regular and unexpected tasks, especially training, drills, combat readiness and victorious combat in all situations and tasks of preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and epidemics.
Innovate and improve methods to ensure logistics and technology in the new situation; continue to improve the quality of ensuring the lives and health of soldiers, contributing to improving the combat strength of the Army.

The General Secretary emphasized proactively forecasting and evaluating the development trends of military science in the world, promoting research and application of scientific and technological achievements, innovation and digital transformation in management, operation, design, manufacture, production, repair, and modernization of weapons, technical equipment, production of logistics materials, technical materials, especially types of weapons and technical equipment of strategic significance; improving the quality of scientific research at research institutions, schools in the General Department and the Logistics and Engineering sector of the entire army.
In the "new era", the Logistics and Military Engineering sector must take the lead in innovating science and technology, in absorbing the latest and most modern achievements of human intelligence to apply to the development of logistics, military technology and the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.
Products of the General Department and the Logistics and Military Engineering sector must be specialized products, dual-use products researched, developed, and produced in the spirit of "Self-confidence, self-reliance, self-reliance, self-strengthening, national pride" and especially emphasizing Strategic Autonomy.
The General Secretary clearly pointed out that the General Department thoroughly grasps and effectively implements "2 steadfast, 2 promoting, 2 preventing" and the motto "5 steadfast" (Steadfast politics; steadfast discipline; steadfast technology; steadfast military art; steadfast soldier life); focusing on caring for and taking care of the lives of soldiers, from meals, accommodation, living to health care, especially for officers and soldiers in remote and isolated areas, border areas, and islands so that soldiers can feel secure in their work and be ready to fight, considering this as the main and regular focus of the Logistics-Technical sector.
