According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the working trip to attend the high-level discussion session of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and carry out bilateral activities in the US, in New York City, General Secretary and President To Lam had a meeting with Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsyukh.
At the meeting, the two leaders expressed satisfaction with the recent developments in the relationship between the two countries such as cultural, tourism, education - training cooperation, especially the signing of visa exemption agreements for diplomatic, public, and general passport holders; opening direct flights between the capital Ulan Bator of Mongolia to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, creating favorable conditions for tourism cooperation, cultural exchange, and people-to-people exchange between the two countries.
For his part, Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsyukh highly appreciated the results of the recent visit of Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man. The Mongolian President congratulated the outstanding achievements in socio-economic development of Vietnam under the leadership of General Secretary, President To Lam and the Vietnamese leadership; considering Vietnam's success as the success of the State and people of Mongolia.
President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsyukh affirmed that Mongolia always values the development of relations with Vietnam, considers Vietnam as a "third neighbor" and Mongolia's top important partner in Southeast Asia, and wishes to continue to join hands to nurture the good traditional friendly relationship between Vietnam and Mongolia to become increasingly prosperous and wealthy in the new era of development.
At the meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam congratulated the new and great achievements that the State and people of Mongolia have achieved in socio-economic development strategies and "Vision 2050".
General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always value and are ready to cooperate closely, comprehensively and deeply with Mongolia in all fields, in accordance with the framework of the Vietnam - Mongolia Comprehensive Partnership, with a focus on economy, trade, investment, cultural exchange, and people.
General Secretary and President To Lam said that the development of Vietnam-Mongolia relations will better meet the aspirations of the people of each country, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
The leaders of the two countries agreed to continue to closely coordinate and support each other at international and regional forums and mechanisms, especially at the United Nations.
