On June 18, at the Presidential Office Headquarters, General Secretary and President To Lam received Vice Chairman of the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany Bodo Ramelow.
Welcoming Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Bodo Ramelow to return to visit Vietnam, General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that the Party, State and People of Vietnam highly value the Strategic Partnership with the Federal Republic of Germany, always considering Germany as Vietnam's top important partner in Europe; thanked the German Parliament for recently ratifying the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), showing the determination of the two sides in strongly promoting the Vietnam-Germany Strategic Partnership.
At the reception, General Secretary and President To Lam outlined a number of strategic cooperation orientations between the two countries in the coming time, in which it is necessary to strengthen political trust through delegation exchanges, high-level and highest-level contacts on Party, State and National Assembly channels, actively take advantage of the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) to soon increase bilateral trade turnover to over 20 billion USD, maintain the two countries as the top markets of each other in the EU and ASEAN; and at the same time constantly strengthen practical and effective cooperation in other fields such as science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green economy, and circular economy.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Bodo Ramelow congratulated Vietnam's outstanding achievements in socio-economic development, administrative system reform and international position in the past time; affirmed that Germany respects the political system, highly appreciates Vietnam's role and position in the region, and wishes to constantly strengthen practical and effective cooperation and deepen the Strategic Partnership with Vietnam in all fields, especially economy, trade, investment, renewable energy, high-speed railways, and high-quality human resource training.

Sharing the content of working sessions with German businesses in Vietnam, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Bodo Ramelow said that the German business community highly appreciates the dynamism of the Vietnamese economy, the investment and business environment and the development potential of Vietnam; affirming that Vietnam will continue to be the most attractive destination in the region for German investors; ready to combine German technology strengths and experience with young and quality human resources of Vietnam; further promote cooperation in education, labor, and vocational training towards establishing a government-level cooperation agreement and local-local cooperation in these fields.
Vice President Bodo Ramelow agreed with the General Secretary and President on strengthening people-to-people exchanges, cultural exchanges, promoting the community of more than 200,000 Vietnamese people in Germany as well as thousands of Vietnamese people who have studied and worked in Germany to consolidate the foundation of friendship and sustainable cooperation between the two countries.
