President Luong Cuong expressed his pleasure to witness the traditional friendly relationship between Vietnam and Indonesia developing strongly, especially the milestone of upgrading to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the two countries just celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (December 30, 2025).
Appreciating the traditional friendly relations between the two countries, Ambassador Adam Mulawarman Tugio said that this is a solid foundation to promote bilateral cooperation to a new height, especially after the two countries upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the visit of General Secretary To Lam to Indonesia last year.
The Ambassador was also pleased that Vietnamese businesses are investing and doing business successfully in Indonesia, and wished that in the coming time, the two countries would continue to promote cooperation in areas where the two sides have strengths, especially in areas such as electric vehicle battery production, semiconductor chips, Halal food and tourism development.
President Luong Cuong said that bilateral economic cooperation with an estimated trade turnover of 17 billion USD in 2025 is very encouraging and can completely be raised to 18 billion USD in the near future based on political trust, as well as the great complementary needs and potentials between the two countries.

Receiving Philippine Ambassador Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III, President Luong Cuong welcomed the Ambassador to take office in Vietnam. The President assessed that bilateral trade turnover has developed strongly in recent years. Defense and security cooperation has been actively implemented; cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, education and training, and people-to-people exchanges is increasingly deep, but there is still much room for further development in the coming time.
Pointing out that 2026 is of particular importance, the year marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the Philippines taking on the role of ASEAN Chair, on the Vietnamese side, it is the first year of implementing the resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the President said that this is an important and appropriate time for the two countries to study and promote relations between the two countries to a new height.
President Luong Cuong requested the two sides to continue to strengthen exchanges and contacts at high and all levels, across all channels; effectively implement bilateral contact mechanisms; promote economic connectivity; facilitate import and export of goods with potential and strengths of the two sides, and strive to bring two-way trade turnover to reach 10 billion USD soon.
Ambassador Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III said that in 2026, when taking on the role of ASEAN Chair, the Philippines wishes Vietnam to make many contributions to the agenda, thereby being able to fulfill its responsibility well, promoting intra-bloc cooperation to be increasingly effective and developed.
Emphasizing that the potential for cooperation between the two countries is still very large, especially that many bilateral agreements have been signed, the Ambassador affirmed that he will do his best to promote the implementation of existing bilateral agreements.
