Gold price forecast
According to Reuters, world gold prices fell as US President Donald Trump decided to postpone the deadline for imposing a 50% tax on goods from the European Union (EU), reducing demand for safe-haven assets such as gold.
This is a slightly volatile trading session, UBS analyst Giovanni Staunovo said, suggesting the slight decline was due to Trump's delay in imposing higher tariffs on the EU. He also noted that because the US is on Memorial Day, trading volume will be low.
We still expect gold prices to rise again in the next few months, with the possibility of re-evaluating the $3,500/ounce zone, Mr. Staunovo predicted.
According to Kitco, the US market closed for a long Memorial Day holiday, leading the gold market to record slight profit-taking activities in a quiet atmosphere, but still maintained support level above 3,300 USD/ounce.
Although gold prices fell slightly on Monday, the broader technical and fundamentals were still leaning towards the uptrend. Citi Bank has raised its 3-month price target to $3,500/ounce, based on geopolitical risks, tariff policies and concerns about the US budget. UBS also remains positive, predicting gold will retake the $3,500 mark," said James Hyerczyk, senior market analyst at FXEmpire.com in a report.
The market remains above $3,310/ounce and safe-haven demand remains strong, traders should prioritize uptrends, paying attention to outstanding information to get into order, the expert added.
