Value of the Certificate of completion of the high school education program

Clause 9, Article 1, Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the 2025 Education Law (effective from January 1, 2026) stipulates amending and supplementing Article 34 of the 2019 Education Law as follows:

Article 34. Confirmation of completion of primary, secondary, and high school education programs and issuance of high school diplomas

1. Students who complete the primary education program, the secondary education program that meets the conditions according to the regulations of the Minister of Education and Training are certified by the school principal for completion of the primary education program, the secondary education program.

2. Students who complete the high school education program and meet the conditions according to the regulations of the Minister of Education and Training are eligible to take the exam and meet the requirements and are granted a high school diploma by the school principal.

In case students do not take the exam or do not meet the requirements, the school principal will issue a certificate of completion of the general education program. The certificate of completion of the general education program is used to register for the high school graduation exam when the learner has a need or to study vocational education and is used in specific cases according to the provisions of law.

Thus, from January 1, 2026, the Certificate of completion of the high school education program has the same value as above.
