Number of Vice Chairmen of Commune-level People's Committees according to new regulations

The Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:

Article 6, Decree 300/2025/ND-CP (effective from November 17, 2025) stipulates the framework for the number of Vice Chairmen of the People's Committee, the number and structure of members of the People's Committee; the order and procedures for proposing to approve the results of the People's Council to elect, dismiss, and remove Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the People's Committee; the order and procedures for transferring, removing Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the People's Committee and assigning the authority of the Chairman of the People's Committee, stipulate as follows:

1. The number of Vice Chairmen of People's Committees at the commune level is calculated on the average principle of no more than 2.5 Vice Chairmen of People's Committees for each commune-level administrative unit.

2. Based on the total number of Vice Chairmen of the People's Committees at the commune level of the whole province and city as prescribed in Clause 1 of this Article, the People's Committees at the provincial level shall decide on the specific number of Vice Chairmen of the People's Committees at each commune level in accordance with the natural area, population size, classification of administrative units, socio-economic development level and practical situation of the locality, but must ensure that it does not exceed the total number of Vice Chairmen of the People's Committees at the commune level of the whole province and city.

Thus, the number of Vice Chairmen of the People's Committees at the commune level according to the new regulations is regulated as above.
