The authority to sanction the Commune Police Chief from July 2025

The Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:

Clause 4, Article 8 of Decree 189/2025/ND-CP detailing the Law on Handling of Administrative Violations on the authority to sanction administrative violations (effective from July 1, 2025) stipulates that the Commune Police Chief has the right to:

a) Warning fine;

b) Fine up to 50% of the maximum fine for the corresponding field as prescribed in Article 24 of the Law on Handling of Administrative Violations;

c) revoking the right to use a license or practice certificate for a period of time or temporarily suspending operations;

d) Confiscation of exhibits and means of administrative violation;

d) Apply remedial measures prescribed in Clause 1, Article 28 of the Law on Handling of Administrative Violations.

Thus, from July 1, 2025, the Commune Police Chief has the right to impose the above penalty.
