Concerns of candidates choosing D01 block combination
The 2025 high school graduation exam has ended but many candidates are still worried. The reason is that this year's exam is considered to have a high differentiation, especially in Math and English - two important subjects in the D01 group.
Pham Kim Anh - a candidate taking the high school graduation exam in Hanoi - said that he chose the D01 block because he had oriented to study Economics since grade 10. In addition to Math and Literature, English is the subject I invest most in, studying extra in the evening, self-training in listening and speaking skills to get high scores.
The female student said that the English graduation exam was difficult, and the results were not as expected. In addition, this year, universities have converted equivalent admission methods and combinations to the same standard scale, which makes me more worried.
"My family and I always want to study at a good school so that we can have a stable job in the future. I was just afraid that I would miss the opportunity to fulfill my dream because of the difference in points" - Kim Anh confided.

Similarly, Bui Duc Trung - a candidate taking the high school graduation exam in Hanoi expressed concern when planning to apply for the Information Technology major using the D01 combination.
The male student expressed his hope that universities would carefully consider and have a suitable calculation plan so that the difference in scores between groups can be applied fairly, accurately reflecting the actual capacity of each candidate, ensuring the rights of those who have oriented the appropriate admission group from the beginning.
Ensuring fairness for candidates
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Dr. Pham Thanh Ha - Head of Training Department, University of Transport - said that considering adjusting the difference in admission scores between groups with Math and English is necessary to ensure the rights of candidates.
This year, the Math exam is considered difficult, while English is optional. Schools can calculate the difference between groups to ensure fairness in admission. On the side of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), after announcing the general scores, it can make recommendations on a reasonable difference in scores" - Dr. Ha commented.

According to Mr. Ha, the specific difference will depend on the scoring analysis. Universities have the right to be autonomous in admission, but there should be regulation from the Ministry of Education and Training to unify recommendations, thereby adjusting the benchmark scores within the permitted scope, ensuring compliance with regulations.
In previous years, applying the difference between groups was not mandatory. But with this year's situation, this is necessary to ensure fairness for candidates" - Dr. Ha emphasized.
