The fight against corruption steps onto the screen
The film is built by a team of experienced screenwriters, with professional advice from the Supreme People's Procuracy. With a filmmaking formula imbued with the breath of the times, "Lan ranh" is increasingly attracting the attention and follow of audiences through each episode aired.
Through hot issues such as corruption, group interests, abuse of position and covering up violations, the film raises thorny questions about the boundaries between responsibility, power and compromise. The deeper they go, the more the characters realize that no one is completely outside the vortex of temptation, when everyone has to choose between personal safety and pursuing justice.
Commenting on the film, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Hoai Son - Standing Member of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Society - said: "It can be said that this is a serious effort of the film crew when choosing a very "hot" and sensitive topic: Corruption, group interests, the degeneration of power and the accompanying social consequences.
The good news is that the film has not only stopped at illustrating or propagating in a rigid sense, but has tried to portray internal contradictions, gray areas in people, so that viewers can feel that each wrong choice starts from a very fragile "line" between right and wrong, between civil service responsibility and everyday temptations".
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Hoai Son believes that the greatest value of the film lies in the fact that it does not extremize reality, but reflects it in a daily, close way. The cadre is not a superhero character, but a flesh and blood person, facing countless pressures and temptations.
When the audience realizes that the degeneration of power is not just a personal story, but a problem of mechanisms, environment and social value systems, the film has fulfilled its role in awakening social awareness" - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Hoai Son commented.
To make political films "touch" the audience
Before "Lan ranh", many political films such as "Sinh tu", "Dau tri"... also caused a stir and were welcomed by audiences. From there, it can be seen that films are gradually becoming effective tools for propaganda on preventing and combating corruption and social evils.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Hoai Son said: "In the current fight against corruption, the General Secretary has repeatedly emphasized: "Fighting corruption has no forbidden zones, no exceptions. Films, if done properly, will help convey that spirit in a softer, more humane way, touching emotions, instead of just stopping at administrative - legal messages. And the positive reaction of the audience shows that the public completely supports such responsible works.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Hoai Son, propaganda and education on preventing and combating corruption and social evils through film is a right direction and needs to be further encouraged. However, the important thing is not "repeating the message", but the way of telling stories and how to touch human emotions.
When the film only stops at one-sided illustration, the good and bad characters are clearly distinguished, the message is rigid, it is very easy to fall into cliches, making the audience "hear from the left ear to the right ear". But when filmmakers bravely step into the gray areas of life, recreating moral thorns, conflicts of interest, very ordinary slipping steps of people in the face of temptation, then the message of preventing and combating corruption and social evils will become deeper, gentler and deeper" - Mr. Son emphasized.
From a cultural professional perspective, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Hoai Son expects filmmakers to continue to delve into the multi-dimensionality, avoiding "framing" villainous characters according to familiar motifs. When the story of power, ethics, self-respect and public service responsibility is expressed subtly and truthfully, film will become a very important social education institution - contributing to building a civilized culture, consolidating people's trust and accompanying the Party and State in the cause of building a rule-of-law state and sustainable development of the country.
