Forming many green tourism models
Recently, the tourism industry in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has been focusing on developing in the direction of respecting the environment and preserving nature. On that basis, many green tourism models have been and are being formed, bringing green resort spaces to serve tourists.
For example, Con Dao district (the only island of Ba Ria - Vung Tau) is building a circular economic model to promote the strengths of clean natural resources, a system of special national historical relics... In which, focusing on managing and classifying waste at the source; practicing reducing single-use plastic; building awareness of environmental protection in Con Dao among the community, tourists...
Or recently, Suoi Rau Ecolodge tourist area was awarded a carbon neutral destination certificate. On an area of 5 hectares of this destination, after 15 years of renovation and construction, 95% is now covered by more than 1 million trees that have been identified with about 700 species. Of which, there are 18 rare and precious timber species of the province; more than 300 medicinal herbs... Through monitoring and recording, the total amount of CO2 stored in trees and soil here is about 260 tons/year, while the amount of emissions from activities is only about 19 tons/year.
Orientation for green, clean, sustainable development, towards Net Zero
Following the trend of green tourism to protect the environment, the tourism industry of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has implemented many measures to promote and invest in developing tourism in a green and sustainable direction; focusing on developing tourism associated with ecology, aiming for Net Zero in the strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050.
“The Department of Tourism is currently focusing on introducing about 230 destinations and 54 tours and routes; building a green tourism program across the province. In particular, all tourist facilities are oriented towards green tourism, achieving Net Zero standards in the near future” - the leader of the Department of Tourism informed.
The People’s Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has issued a plan for community tourism development, clearly defining development content associated with environmental protection responsibilities. Localities also committed to accompanying and creating conditions for businesses to develop tourism in a green and sustainable direction.
