According to the investigation of Lao Dong Newspaper, the Son La Sports - Physical Training Center Complex Project, phase I (hereinafter referred to as the Sports Complex) in Chieng Sinh Ward (Son La Province) was invested in construction with the goal of creating space for organizing cultural - sports events, training and coaching athletes for the province.

The project started in October 2017, and by the end of 2019, the project was completed and put into use. Up to now, after nearly 7 years, this project has deteriorated, many items have been damaged, lying exposed to the sun and rain.
Present at the above sports complex on August 2, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, most of the plastic seats in stand A were damaged, the piste was peeling. The concrete part in the stands has cracks causing water leakage...
Currently, only the women's football and athletics teams use it as a training ground. While 10/12 other sports and physical education and sports competitions are still held at the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center (in To Hieu Ward, Son La Province).

According to Ms. Hoang Ngan Hoan - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Son La province, the reason for the deterioration of some items of the Sports Complex is that the project has just been invested in phase I.
The items have not been invested synchronously, along with the impact of weather conditions and usage time.
In addition, when phase I was completed and put into use, this sports complex has not really promoted connectivity with the mass sports movement, especially the regular exercise of the people due to the distance from the center.
"Other sports continue to be trained at the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center in To Hieu Ward, which is an effective solution to maintain continuous professional activities in the condition that the facilities at the Sports Complex have not been invested in phase II" - Ms. Hoan said.

According to Ms. Hoan, in the coming time, the Department will continue to coordinate with relevant units, advise and propose to arrange investment resources for phase II of the project according to the overall plan of 15 hectares. In particular, priority is given to investing in essential items for training and competition, such as training rooms, multi-purpose gymnasiums, swimming pools, training grounds, dining rooms, athlete accommodation areas and functional rooms.
It is known that phase 1 of the Son La Provincial Sports Complex Project has invested in the construction of items including: Stadium according to the criteria of a type II urban stadium, with a capacity of 10,000 seats; around the stadium designed with 6 running routes and 8 direct running routes; drainage system, lighting, modern electronic board.
In addition, other auxiliary items such as concrete roads to the stadium; main gate; side gate; rainwater drainage system, wastewater... have also been invested in and completed.
