The movie "Heartman" (Vietnamese title: Tinh dau kho noi) tells the story of Seung Min (Kwon Sang Woo) - who used to be the lead singer of a rock band, now living peacefully by running a musical instrument store.
Accidentally meeting Bo Na (Moon Chae Won) - the first love after many years, he puts all his effort into conquering her heart - but has to face a secret that he can never reveal, pushing his life into a sudden vortex of chaos.
The work was originally expected to have the participation of Kwon Sang Woo - a famous actor who is a "comedy master" through film projects such as "Dream Chicken Detective", "Ultimate Assassin"... The participation of Moon Chae Won, Park Ji Hwan, P.O and the direction of Choi Won Seob - the director behind the "Ultimate Assassin" series is also a factor attracting audiences.
However, since its release on January 14 in Korea, "Heartman" has been quite quiet. As of noon on January 21 (after nearly 1 week of screening), the work has only sold 182,066 tickets, earning nearly 1.7 billion won.
This number is far behind the movie "Once we were us" (Korean version, starring Koo Kyo Hwan, Moon Ga Young) - a work that is currently in the top 1 domestic box office with 1,665,643 tickets sold, earning 16.2 billion won.
Previously, sharing about the work, Kwon Sang Woo admitted that he is always stressed before each new movie release. The fact that audiences come to the cinema and pay to see his work is extremely meaningful - when currently, they have many options to watch movies online at home, at a lower cost.
For the 50-year-old actor, "Heartman" may or may not be successful, but he gradually accepts everything with a positive attitude, because the most important thing is to continue acting.
Of course, everyone will get old. That is the law of life. An actor must accept that. Whether it's a TV series or a movie, whether I play the main role or not - if the role is suitable, I am willing to take on it. I just want to continue working, continue to show different aspects of myself" - he said.
The movie "Heartman" is currently showing in Korea, and is expected to be released in Vietnamese cinemas on January 30th.
